What macaroni penguins lack in size, they make up for in sass. Life in the Antarctic doesn’t come easy for these bright yellow-crowned bundles of attitude. At over 11 feet, the wandering albatross has the biggest wingspan of any bird on the planet. One of these birds can fly millions of miles during a lifetime, but they don’t live a solitary existence; they are masters of the long-distance relationship. Bertie watches as an old albatross couple reunites alongside a pair of flirty teenagers on a bizarre first date.

South Georgia’s St. Andrews Bay has a busy beach that’s home to 400,000 king penguins who have converged here to raise the next generation.

The crew sailed for six days through some of the roughest ocean on the planet to reach the island of South Georgia in the South Atlantic Ocean.
