Season 1 Episodes
1. From the Plains to the Mountains
Although Portugal is a country with a relatively small territory, the difference of landscapes is quite notorious. To the South of the Tagus river the forest is composed mainly by Cork Oak trees, and to the North of the Douro river, in the mountainous regions, the deciduous forests prevail. Due to this fact, the fauna that inhabits these areas is also quite different. In this episode we will follow some of the most iconic species of each of these habitats in some particular phases of their lives. Will the Bustard be able to find a pair to mate? What is a Cork Oak Forest? How does the Golden Striped Salamander reproduces? Who will survive the brutal confrontation between two Iberian Ibex? These are just some of the stories we will get to know in this episode of Wild Portugal.
2. From the Mountains to the Coast
Water is a vital element for the survival of all living beings on Planet Earth. Rivers are, therefore, real arteries for life. From the top of the mountains where the rivers begin to run, to their final destination, we will get to know the animals and landscapes that cross the heart of Wild Portugal. The Deer stag that struggles to keep his harem, the Springtime ritual of the frogs and the dancing of the Grebes are just a few of them.
3. From the Coasts to the Islands
The richness of Portugal’s coastal waters is amazing. Thousands of creatures live here, both in the water and on land. The portuguese coast is the ultimate frontier before the Atlantic Ocean. In the middle of the Atlantic, the archipelago of the Azores is home to one of the richest ocean ecosystems on the Planet. In this episode we will meet some of these species in a unique and revealing look at their lives.
