Season 1 Plot
The X Factor is an Australian television music competition to find new singing talent. The first series premiered on 6 February 2005 and ended on 15 May 2005. The show was cancelled after the series ended due to poor ratings, but was revived in 2010 after Seven Network acquired the rights through meetings with show creator Simon Cowell.
The X Factor Season 1 aired on February 6th, 2005.
Season 1 Episodes
1. Audition 1
Part 1 of the audition discovered some truly ""xtraordinary, xceptional and xciting"" Australian singing talent. Thousands of talented, ambitious and in some cases deluded contestants paraded past the three judges, who worked together as a majority rules selection panel. Contenders will now audition for one of three categories - solo artists 16-24, solo artists 25 plus, and vocal groups. Of the thousands of hopefuls, only 30 contestants will be chosen in each of the three categories. This episode's auditions were from Melbourne.
2. Audition 2
The search continues. Of the thousands of hopefuls, only 30 contestants will be chosen in each of the three categories. This episode's auditons were from Adelaide and Perth.
3. Audition 3
The search continues. Out of the thousands of hopefuls, only 30 contestants will be chosen for each of the three categories. This episode's auditons were from Brisbane.
4. Audition 4
The search continues. Out of the thousands of hopefuls, only 30 contestants will be chosen for each of the three categories. This episode's auditions were from Sydney. Mark Holden will mentor the Vocal Groups, Kate Ceberano will mentor the 16-24s and John Reid will mentor the 25 and overs.
5. Lockdown 1
After making it through the nationwide auditions, it will be revealed for the first time which judge will mentor which category. Kept secret from each other, each judge will assemble a team of people to help them decide who has got it and who doesn't. At the end of the three-day boot camp, each judge will have to cut their acts down from 30 contenders to just five.
6. Lockdown 2
Boot camp continues. After making it through the nationwide auditions, it will be revealed for the first time which judge will mentor which category. 7. Lockdown 3
This episode saw more people being eliminated. 16-24s got cut down to 10 people, Vocal Groups got cut down to 10 people and the Over 25s have their final 5 going through to Masterclass.
8. Lockdown 4
The 16-24s and the Vocal Groups were cut down to 5. Now all 3 categories have been reduced to 5 and move on to Masterclass.
9. Masterclass 1
After surviving the rigours of Boot Camp, the judges will take their respective group of five contestants to their home for some intense one on one mentoring and to give the contestants a taste of what their future lifestyle could be. At the end of this, each judge will have to make the tough choice of eliminating two further contestants, leaving just three finalists in each category to perform at the live shows.

12. The Xtra Factor 1
An access-all-areas preview show giving insight into the preparation - both mentally and physically - that the final nine acts have undertaken in order to perform live in front of thousands of people and their toughest critics - the judges! Hosted by Chloe Maxwell live from the Vodafone Arena in Melbourne.
13. 9 Acts Perform
There's only one question on everyone's mind - Who has the X Factor? Only three acts from each category now remain: Kate Ceberano with the 16-24's year olds, John Reid with the 25 and overs and Mark Holden with his vocal groups. Watch them perform live in front of a studio audience and the nation! Who will welcome the spotlight and who will crumble? So... do you know who has the X Factor?
14. Elimination 1 - The Brothership
Tonight's results show saw Janie Shrapnel and The Brothership in the bottom two. Mark voted for: The Brothership to stay. John voted for: Janie Shrapnel to stay. Kate voted for: Janie Shrapnel to stay. The Brothership was the first eliminated from The X Factor.

All acts sang one song each again before the voting lines closed. Kaya and Russell were in the bottom two. Kaya received the least amount of votes and are the sixth eliminated from The X Factor.

All acts sang one song each again before the voting lines closed. Vincent Harder received the least amount of votes and is the seventh eliminated from The X Factor and finishes 3rd.

The remaining two acts battle the ultimate claim to the The X Factor. It's their final performance live in front of a studio audience and the nation! Watch as the judges compete to send their protégés to first place. The contestants want to win... but not as much as the judges!
