Season 1 Episodes
1. Episode 1
The number of tourists flocking to Tromsø to catch a glimpse of the northern lights has multiplied in a few years. The documentary series "The Hunt for the Northern Lights" follows some of the people who do their best to satisfy the curious visitors and take part in the thriving tourist industry.
2. Episode 2
The Northern Lights forecast for the evening is the best of the season. Trine, Guide-Gunnar, Ida and Hans Olav are in the open air with the tourists to experience the northern lights, and the night sky delivers.
3. Episode 3
It's the northern lights tourists come because of, but the locals do what they can to try to keep them. Trine takes the tourists on a whale safari. Roar and Karen are a Sami couple who work with reindeer in the wilderness camp Hans Olav runs, but Hans Olav must rush out to the camp to try to sort out a fad that can cost Roar and Karen many hundreds of thousands of NOK.
4. Episode 4
The entire Tromsø region is struggling with bad weather, and none of the activities are going as planned. Cancellations leave disappointed tourists and frustrated operators. Guide-Gunnar must make the tough choice whether he will go in search of the northern lights and defy the weather. Terje and Anne Stine who run the husky camp experience a small bright spot despite the rain, they get five new puppies.
5. Episode 5
A newlywed British couple has made the honeymoon to Tromsø Camping, and Ida does everything she can to make the stay perfect. Guide-Gunnar continues to work on future plans, while Terje and Anne drive husky trips in mighty wilderness. Hans Olav is a doctor and has a lot of iron in the fire. He takes a health check to see if the hectic everyday life goes beyond health.
6. Episode 6
Hans Olav's everyday life is with work, but as a family man with five children, there is no lazy life on the home front either. Gunnar is ice fishing with his friend, Markus. It will soon develop into a fishing competition. Ida is visited by her boyfriend, Ole. Trine talks about how her mother's death has affected her relationship with her father.
7. Episode 7
Hans Olav and his whiskey distillery will participate in the Tromsø Whiskey Festival. One of Norway's leading whiskey tasters will give his shot. Kurt Arild has brought a Filipino group on board the luxury boat, but as the only crew there is enough to do to keep the guests happy.
8. Episode 8
The winter season is in full swing. At the husky camp, only two tourists come to visit, and they must be convinced that the dogs will not attack them. Gunnar is tired after a long season and in a bad mood when the municipality asks him to turn down the billboards. Trine and Alf try to balance the roles of both colleagues and father and daughter in the family business.
9. Episode 9
Kurt Arild takes two Australians interested in history to the wreck of Tirpitz, a German battleship that was bombed in 1944. Hans Olav tries to recruit Gunnar, before he has to go home and pack for a whiskey launch in Edinburgh. The husky camp is ready for the season, the camp is packed down and it will be a tough farewell for Stine.
10. Episode 10
Hans Olav launches his whiskey brand in Edinburgh, and it will be a nerve-wracking and emotional day. Trine and Alf celebrate that the season has been a success, but Trine is not quite ready for the message she receives from Alf in the middle of the party. Gunnar celebrates the end of his 20th season as a tourist guide, and is surprised when the entire Tromsø tourism industry pays tribute to him.
