Series 24 Plot
The 24th series of The Bill, a British television drama, was the antepenultimate series of the programme. This series was the last to feature the killing of an officer, PC Emma Keane. The death on-screen led to the resignation of the longest serving character, PC Reg Hollis, his controversial exit off-screen after actor Jeff Stewart attempted suicide on set, after being axed by producers following 24 years on the show. Another long-term character, Inspector Gina Gold, left the show after six years as part of the aftermath of the storyline, Gold retiring after becoming increasingly terrified at the thought of losing another officer.
The Bill Series 24 aired on January 2nd, 2008.
Series 24 Episodes
1. The Deadly Game
Gayle and Fletcher catch a joy rider in a stolen car and discover the car was used in a hit and run earlier on during the day. DC Stevie Moss investigates the case after it is discovered the car belongs to a footballer.
2. Shadow Stalker
Armstrong and Stone investigate after a young woman is assaulted in a local park. When they talk to her they find out she has been receiving prank telephone calls for several weeks. Kezia Walker sees similarities in the case with one she worked on previously.
3. To Catch A Killer: Part I
The team worry that a copycat style child killer is on the loose after an eleven year old boy is snatched.
4. To Catch A Killer: Part II
Heaton is forced to hold a press conference as the media interest increases about Linda Johnson's involvement in the abduction case.
5. Innocent Blood
Smithy come to the aid of a man who has been attacked with a knife and he gets a description of the man who did it from a young girl he has been helping. The man is beaten up by her boyfriend and she tells Smithy that she is afraid of him.
6. Wall Of Silence
Carly dies in hospital after been shot and Smithy feels bad. Maurice Thompson gives the police some information about the shooting but they discover he has been lying. Alisha who was Carly's best friend tells Smithy that Marlon Reed is after her boyfriend. Marlon is found pointing a gun at the head of Tito Morientes.
7. Breaking Point
After a local health centre is broken in to Diane and Nate find Dr Adam Tyler badly beaten inside. CCTV footage shows Brendan Connor a local drug addict taking stuff from the drugs cabinet. Brendon admits to taking the drugs when questioned but is adamant he didn't beat the doctor up. The team then find out that the beating is linked to some illegal activities one of his colleges has been doing. Carly's mother tries to take her own life.
8. Deadly Secret
The day of Carly Samuels' funeral unfolds in chaos as Tito Morientes is arrested after firing a gun during a brawl at the procession. A dramatic revelation leads to an unlikely suspect, while a crucial witness comes forward naming Tito as one of the gunmen. Elsewhere, a series of robberies occur during the funeral, including Carly's. In addition to the hunt for the suspect, the Sun Hill team are left to contend with a group of vigilantes tracking the burglar. Manson takes leave to visit his son in Spain.
9. Protection
Meadows launches the raid on Dwayne Fox's home, and Nixon coordinates one at Tito Morientes'. Tito is arrested, but Dwayne isn't home. Dwayne's mother Beverley breaks his alibi, but his boss kidnaps baby Brooke to increase the pressure on the team. Alisha Danniels’ phone signal puts her at the scene of the murder, and she gives another statement that reveals there was a third man in the car, turning the case on its head.
10. Hit & Run
Alisha Danniels is left fighting for her life when she is hit by a speeding car after being taken home from the station. A chase ensues, but the car escapes down railway lines before being found on fire. With the fire quickly extinguished, there is hope for the investigators. The car leads to two investigations as Roberts and Keane try to track down a teenager who fooled the owner in order to car-jack him. When the boy's older brother leaves mid-interview, Alisha identifies him as the driver of the drive-by car. Refusing to give a statement, Dasari and Smithy discover Alisha's dad Oscar knows where he is. As part of the forensic check of the car, bullets are found in a hidden compartment of the boot, so Carter tracks the owner in order to bust him selling them on.
11. Truth & Lies
When the trial for Carly Samuels' murder kicks off, Dasari is surprised to find out that the defence barrister is her ex-boyfriend, Sunil Davdra. Key witness Joel Pearce folds after being threatened inside prison, causing Smithy to beg of Alisha Danniels to change her mind and come forward. Elsewhere, Masters and Moss investigate an assault on a pregnant woman, discovering it was ordered by her street thug boyfriend Raheem Woods. After smashing his face against a cell wall, Woods accuses Roberts of assault and is released. The cases cross paths when Raheem riles up the estate as Smithy, Alisha and Oscar leave for court, with all three left in danger.
12. The Final Act
Stamp and Keane race into action after finding Smithy's IRV on its side following the assault by another vehicle. Back on the estate, a full blown riot breaks out, orchestrated by Raheem Woods and other members of the Creekside Boys. Roberts finds himself attacked and abducted by the street thugs, leading to a daring rescue to shut the riot down. Late evidence changes the entire context of the case, but with the trial falling apart, can they secure justice for Carly in time?
13. Driven To Kill
Callum and Tony find themselves the victims of a prank calls. Will receives a call from two boys saying their father has kidnapped them.
14. Payback
Sally and Ben are surprised when they find a young boy behind the wheel of a stolen car belonging to a local villain. A briefcase in the car opens up a whole new mystery.
15. Cover Up
Will and Sally help a homeless man who has been hit on the head by a bag of cocaine. Ben discovers that Liam Harvey dumped the drugs and ends up in a fight with his father.
16. The Hit
Sally and Will talk to a female drive who claims she hit somebody in her car who then ran off. Their search leads them to Adam who has been shot. Stevie and Max find out that Adam was the target of a hit man at a hostel that he was staying at.
17. Spilt Blood
Callum, Sally and Tony investigate the case of a woman last seen leaving a night club.
18. Deadly Cocktail
Green and Valentine find a body on the banks of the Thames. The victim, Michael Drummond, is a disgraced doctor under investigation by the General Medical Council. He appears to be involved in a death on duty, and is under fire from friends and family of the victim. One of the suspects, Dave Batchelor, reveals he lost his girlfriend at a party Drummond was at in the 90s. Green tries to get through to Dave, with no avail. Events escalate when a friend of Drummond's is found, with Dave holding a needle to his neck.
19. Heat On The Beat
Green and Keane come on shift with hangovers. Their day starts badly when they turn up late to a briefing with the Super, covering uniform for investigations while CID work a fraud case. It only gets worse when Heaton volunteers to join the duo on patrol. Gold and Wright go to Canley Market, mainly so Gold can keep an eye on Heaton! Roberts and Valentine find an abandoned electronics van, and find the driver tied up in the back. Heaton freaks out a female drug dealer when he arrests her, due to a history of abuse. Green, Keane and Heaton find a young boy working his mother's stall, and two robots stolen from the van are found. The drug dealer, Rachel Compton, has her flat turned over, and her brother Matty is found assaulted, surrounded by several damaged robots. Green and Heaton find heroin in the back of one of the two they seized.
20. Corrupted
Sally, Callum, Will and Ben find themselves trying to stop a fight at a night club. Andrew is working under cover at the club and Sally finds herself put on the spot.
21. Break In
Smithy is called out to help a pensioner who has been mugged. It looks like a neighbour might not be telling as much as she knows.
22. Beth Undercover
Beth goes undercover in the hope of busting a drug dealer.
23. Closing The Net: Part I
Roger and Emma investigate after a 13 year old girl called Jenny attempts to kill herself. Jenny says that a man named Craig drugged her and then raped her. Phil discovers the man's real name after seeing CCTV footage where he is seen talking to a friend of Jenny's.
24. Closing The Net: Part II
CID and CEOPs go all out to stop the live feed abuse of an 8-year-old boy. With Det. Supt. Faraday working with Heaton and CID at Sun Hill, Dasari and DI Ashley look through the image of the victim for information of his whereabouts. Noble becomes FLO to the mother, when the boy's drug addict brother is revealed to have given a photo to the paedophile network. With the case hitting close to home, Noble requests a leave of absence to spend time with her son.
25. Blood Rush: Part I
Ben and Tony find a distressed young girl whilst looking around a derelict building. The body of another missing girl is also found there. Stuart is stabbed with a syringe when he attempts to talk to a suspect in the murder case.
26. Blood Rush: Part II
When arrested Danny Peters claims that the syringe contained the HIV virus. Stuart is upset when Jack agrees to say a good word for Peters in court in exchange for helping to bust a major drugs smuggling gang.
27. Sins Of The Father: Part I
Smithy and Will find a former east end gangster seriously injured. His illegitimate son and grandson Jacko are involved in drug dealing. Jacko's body is later found in a pool of blood.
28. Sins Of The Father: Part II
The list of suspects for Jacko Jackson's murder is long; grandfather Johnnie, who went missing, is found at the grave of his son Ray covered in blood, however he is quickly released after his arrest. Jacko's uncle Roger is prime suspect, but he was in custody. His girlfriend, Anya Herdlitska, is arrested due to the fact that Jacko surrendered her to immigration. Then Andreas Audra, is arrested, but he was out of the country. Marty Baxter, who assaulted Johnnie the day before, is a major suspect, but why kill his best friend? With so many suspects to comb through, the Sun Hill team are left to ponder who could be responsible.
29. Going Under
Jack goes undercover working as an antiques dealer to try and make an arrest. Jack faces an harrowing time when he is questioned about antiques by the man he hopes to arrest at gun point.
30. Overkill
Emma and Sally attend the home of a family who claim there has been a break in. Tony and Sally discover one of the robbers in a bad way. The father of the house Tim is arrested for attempted murder when it is revealed that he hasn't been completely truthful.
31. R.I.P P.I.
Private detective Harry Burroughs is found murdered and the investigation in to his death is launched.
32. City Slickers
Sally works undercover at a city trading house after Geraldine Lawson goes missing. On a night out she invites Emma along who forms a bond with one of the suspects involved in Geraldine's disappearance.
33. Shockwave
Two explosions happen whilst Emma and Sally are out on patrol. With many casualties Callum takes control of the situation. Emma learns from Jack about another possible bomb and as she tries to evacuate a building it goes off.
35. Endgame
Callum is determined to catch the bomber but the team receive a message saying another bomb will be achivated in 3 hours. The bomb is traced to a mother taking her children to school. Mickey manges to get her to safety,but when Callum goes back to the car to save her baby the bomb goes off.
37. Running Scared
The team investigate when a young boy called Alfie is badly beaten and his mother's house broken into. They learn that her estranged husband Carl owes money to a loan shark. Jo and Stevie soon find out that Carl is a drug dealer and after breaking into the pl;ace he is staying at they find his body. Nikki works out that Alfie is not saying everything that he knows.
38. Cowboy Country
Whilst stuck in a traffic jam Max and Terry hear a woman scream out who is dragged out from her car and murdered. The men responsible get away. It soon becomes clear that the incident is to do with car jacking.
39. We Are Family: Part I
Alan Marlowe is discovered by Beth and Sally badly beaten up. The team uncover some interesting facts when they launch an investigation.
40. We Are Family: Part I
The team investigate an apparent suicide who turns out to be Lucy Burton. It is soon discovered that she was murdered though and most of the evidence links the murderer as her boyfriend.
41. New Blood
Three new recruits start at Sun Hill. After a hardware store is robbed a cutting devise stolen is used in a bank robbery. When the team discover who is behind the crime they are pretty shocked.
42. Landfill Killer
Brown and Ghir find a body in a landfill. Manson leads the investigation into the death. It appears the victim, Adele Jones, had a sordid love history. With a boyfriend, an ex and even her brother implicated, CID find themselves with too many suspects to get a clear picture. Adele had an argument with another man before her death, and he is suspect number one. He is cleared, meaning there may be a different motive for the killing all together.
43. Trigger Happy
A young boy called Emile Grover is found with a loaded gun and brought into the statiopn for questioning . Emile says he was asked to look after it by Andre Tyrell. PC Mel Ryder is teamed up with Smithy on her first day. Emile's life ends up in danger after he goes missing.
44. Under Cover
Becka Davis is found upset and she later tells Mel she was assaulted in her own home. Jeremy Williams is questioned about the assault and it is discovered that somebody has been pretending to be her on the Internet. Smithy works undercover to expose a gun running outfit.
45. Kick Off
A box of fireworks goes of in front of Beth and Will's police car. Jason Patterson is caught having committed the crime. They learn that the boy's step father is at a football game with the rest of the fireworks.
46. Spray & Pray
Smithy continues to work undercover and finds himself getting in deeper with Darren Cutler, Kieran Wallace, and Tommy Rose. Darren soon works out that he might have been crossed though.
47. Firefight
Smithy continues to work undercover. He meets with Bob Gatting who is the leader of the SE1 gang. Kieran Wallace is beaten up by Gatting's thugs. Stevie poses as Smithy's girlfriend. During a confrontation Smithy is forced to reveal his true identity.
48. Jack Of Hearts
Jack takes some time of and plays a game of poker with some old friends. When one of his friend's grandson is knocked down out side of his flat Jack believes that he was the intended target. He soon discovers that his friends have been keeping secrets from him though.
49. Body Of Evidence
Webb and Banksy investigate a suspicious house fire, and Webb is surprised when he discovers the homeowner is an old informant of his. The prime suspect is the victim's landlord, who worked with the victim in the past. Events take a bizarre twist when, during forensic searches, Olosunje finds human remains in the basement. The victim is identified as a contractor who went missing in the 1970s. The big question is; who did it? Webb is drawn to the landlord's solicitor Naomi Woods, but he is left embarrassed when Banksy reveals she is his wife.
50. Lifesaver
Sally and Ben attend the scene of a hit and run. The investigation becomes more complex as it continues.
51. Teacher's Pet
Teacher Phil Talbot is found unconscious in his home. Sally learns that he had been having problems with a couple of female students that he had suspended for bullying. The team are shocked when they discover that he had been having an affair with the bullied girl.
52. Seize The Day
Leslie Downey is hurt when a scaffolding pole goes through the window of his car and Nikki and Will show up at the scene. When it is discovered that it it is not an accident Nikki and Will attempt to find out who is responsible.
53. Street Kid
Mel and Nate discover a woman unconscious at the wheel of her car. Rachel and Mickey find themselves investigating a break-in at a jewellers but not everything is as it seems.
54. Blind Alley
Paula Merrick is discovered unconscious in an alleyway. After she is taken to the hospital she informs Samantha and Banksy that she had been out last night and had been flirting with a male stripper called Tom Norris and then later had gone home with him.
55. Getting Personal
The body of Vikki Miller in the boot of the car after Millie and Nate chase a joy rider but the driver escapes capture. Suspect Tom Norris is charged with her rape and murder and also the rape of Paula Merrick.
56. Game Plan: Part I
Max works undercover as a dock yard worker and he keeps both Pete Monks and Tom Harris under surveillance. When he is about to have them arrested for stealing DVD players, Intelligence Officer Karen Lacy arrives and lets the team now that Pete Monks and his family are already involved in an investigation involving drugs.
57. Game Plan: Part II
As Pete Monks stews in custody, and Tom Harris lies in St. Hugh's, Lacy, Meadows and Carter weigh up their options. Carter suggests alienating Dave from his children. Anthony, who appeared to be Tom's boyfriend, was likely to know that his father ordered the beating on Harris. As expected, he tells his father he loves Tom and tells him he can do the deal alone. Chloe calls Dave, explaining Pete bottled it and Asif is alive, before telling him she is carrying Asif's child and is moving away from London. Dave confronts Pete, and tells him he is finished with him. With just Carter left to trust, Dave decides to go get the coke once Carter hints at the wire he planted in Dave's office. As Carter and Dave go for the coke, Green calls Meadows to say an angry Pete is looking for Carter, and he's armed with a handgun.
58. Demolition Girl
Callum and Leon investigate the case of a stolen dog. The team learn that a woman has entered a tower block that is about to be demolished to retrieve her diary.
59. Over The Limit
Sally is involved in a serious car crash. Ben attempts to save her career and gives the ambulance men a false name for her. Smithy and Tony become suspicious though when they learn about the crash.
60. Before The Fall
Rachel and Roger answer a call and find Gavin Henshaw beaten up when they arrive. Grace and Kezia question Jay Newman and learn that he was at Gavin's house at the time the attack happened. Jay tells them that Les Cooper attacked Gavin. Later there is another attack and Jay's body is discovered.
61. After The Fall
Ediie believes that Jay Newman could of been pushed. Les Cooper is arrested when he is caught trying to change the way he looks. Les has an albi that checks out when he is questioned. The team find out that Jay had a large stash of heroin and that Marcus Kendall was looking for him.
62. Secret History: Part I
When Millie and Arun are called out to a mugging they are shocked to see the victim is Naomi Woods who is married to DC Jacob Banks. Bobby Henshaw is the prime suspect after the team learn that Naomi defended a driver in court who killed his brother. When Jacob returns home he finds Henshaw holding a knife to his wife's throat.
63. Secret History: Part II
After Bobby Henshaw is beaten up he is taken to the hospital, he claims that Alistair Finch paid for the attack to happen. The team find out that that Bobby's mother Judy was having an affair with Alistair and that Michael found out about it. Judy now believes that Michael's death was not an accident.
64. Trial & Error: Part I
The trial for Tom Norris starts, with the charges rape and murder, and Banksy's wife, Naomi Woods, is named as defence counsel. Fallon Thomas runs from Brown and Green when they go to pick her up, to bring her to court. Paula Merrick suffers a dose of nerves and is found out of her face on vodka, but Ryder cleans her up and brings her to court. She is torn apart on the stand, and is then found in the bathroom talking to fellow witness Sophie Oduya. Naomi witnesses the incident, and the judge throws it out for police orchestration of collusion between witnesses. Nixon issues a warning to Norris about witness intimidation, but a call comes in about an assault in the same alleyway where Paula Merrick was found, leaving Nixon horrified that Norris has restarted his crimes.
65. Trial & Error: Part II
Nixon goes all out to find Tom Norris for the rape after he was bailed. Banksy goes to Naomi for advice, and does some digging. When he returns to CID, a furious Nixon tells him he needs to consider his future at Sun Hill. Nixon storms off, and Banksy confronts her in the bathroom, claiming Nixon's personal opinion of Naomi is compromising her role in the case. With Banksy's findings, the two work out that Dan Cox is also involved, and may be the only culprit. Norris goes missing, and Cox is hunted down to see if they can get a location on Norris.
66. Funny Money
When a shoplifter is caught he is found to have forged banknotes with him and bruises on his body. Charlie tells the team that he stole the forged money from his aunt. The aunt is secretly followed in the hope that the whole counterfeiting operation will be exposed.
67. Appropriate Force
Rachel and Millie find themselves being called to attend an incident at a bank where Sandra Marks has attacked a security guard. After smelling petrol and seeing a burn on her arm they go to her house where they discover her family tied up. Callum manages to link the case to some other crimes.
68. An Honour To Serve: Part I
Callum and Smithy are called to an incodent wherre somebody has been stabbed. Things take a bad turn for Smithy though
69. An Honour To Serve: Part II
Gina is concerned about Smith's safety after a gun shot is heard. Heaton shows up to take control of the case. Callum issues a deadly threat. Gina prepares to leave Sun Hill for the last time.
70. Hide & Seek
A raid on a drugs den takes place. Leon and Rachel find a young frightened girl hiding there. Her tells them that her father only lets her see the girl if she delivers drugs for him. Rachel offers the woman a deal but she has ideas of her own.
71. First Strike
Clinton Andrews passes out on the front of Rachel and Leon's patrol car. After trying to help hi they discover that he has been stabbed. Marcus and Danny Stepney become suspects after inquiries have been made. When Leo attends a break in it ends up being the house of the two brother's mother and she does not want to press charges.
72. Hold Me Tight: Part I
When a girl goes missing Roger investigates the case. He becomes suspicious when her father doesn't have a water tight alibi. Grace and Mickey question her school friends to try and uncover some clues. Before long the team uncover a sinister new twist to the case.
73. Hold Me Tight: Part II
The team work out that one of Bethany Riley's school friends was involved in her murder. After being asked many questions the boy finally reveals what happened.
74. The Rookie
Will starts on his first case as a trainee CID. Will finds himself having to go undercover.
75. Fools Rush In
Arun and Millie come across a younger couple being attacked by a gang whilst they are out on patrol. Arun is determined to catch the gang members but ends up walking into a trap.
76. Loved & Lost
Whilst investigating the disappearance of a school girl Leon Taylor is forced to face up to his past.
77. Walk On By
Nate and Mel attend a stabbing on a bus and are shocked by what they see. A passenger called Holly tries to help the victim and Nate learns that she is Terry Perkin's daughter. Terry isn't happy when Nate starts to get on with his daughter. When the stabbed person dies the case turns into a murder investigation.
78. In Deep
Nate and Tony are shocked when they see a woman being thrown out of a car along with 6 bags of cocaine. The girl tells them she has been purchasing drugs from the owner of a cab firm and that she was beaten up and thrown out if the car because she couldn't pay. When Terry works undercover at the cab firm he finds himself delivering a letter bomb.
79. Proof Of Life: Part I
Whilst Terry Perkins is working undercover as a taxis driver he is shocked when an armed passenger kidnaps a German girl and gets into the back of his car. When the team at Sun Hill find out what is going on they learn that they will have to work with their German counterparts.
80. Proof Of Life: Part II
Terry Perkins travels to Germany still working under cover. Viktor believes that there is a traitor who has been telling the police how to get Charlotte back. Terry remains silent but is shocked when Viktor kills one of his men. Terry hopes that the team at Sun Hill will find out where he and Charlotte are and rescue them.
81. One Day But Not Today: Part I
Layla Dwyer is the victim of a hit and run driver and Nate tries to calm her brother, Noel. When the driver of the car is caught and questioned it is revelaed that Noel has been selling stolen cars to help his father get by. The investigation opens the flood gates to a whole bigger crime going on.
82. Forgotten Child: Part I
Masters is on scene when a pub landlord discovers the body of a prostitute, Kelly Porterfield. Her ex-boyfriend Andy Donnelly is a suspect for Kelly's fatal overdose. His girlfriend, Jen Kilshaw, is obviously underage, so Masters focuses on getting her away from Andy. Masters promises Kelly's mum that she will bring down who is responsible. Walker, Heaton and Masters look at two overdoses, including Kelly's, and a chain of locations where the girls came from and ended up, and fear that a sex trade operation is spreading across the UK, and Andy appears to not be the main suspect in Kelly's murder or the smuggling operation.
83. Forgotten Child: Part II
Masters continues her investigation into a people smuggling operation and the murder of Kelly Porterfield. Jake Clegg is the prime suspect in both, and appears to be working with Scotsman Logan Hunter, working in Glasgow. Masters accuses Clegg of murder, and he makes a formal complaint, for which she is reprimanded. Jen goes missing from her residential unit, and Masters fears she is heading for a swap with Hunter. Donnelly is assaulted by Clegg, and his car, fitted with a tracker, is abandoned. Can Masters get to Jen on time?
84. Santa's Little Helper
When several houses are burgled, it appears that a criminal family working out of a grotto are getting people to give their address, so they can be burgled whilst shopping. Santa, Peter Garrett, is prime suspect, and has previous form for burglary, and his daughter Lisa is caught red handed when Turner uses his flat for a sting. Lisa says she did it to pay off some debt her father had with loan shark David Crossley, before he went to prison. Crossley is caught red-handed by Moss and Turner with a fake passport, and agrees to set up 'Robert', who is fleeing the country, to get time off his sentence. Moss tells Turner to pull the op when she identifies the target, drug dealer Robert Towler, who she was undercover with at S010 in 2005.
85. Too Hot To Handle: Part I
The evidence against Stevie begins to grow. Neil and Jack find themselves with some difficult questions to ask. Stuart even begins to wonder of Stevie has given up on career to follow her heart.
86. Too Hot To Handle: Part II
When Stevie finds out that the drug deal was a set up she goes on the run with Rob. The gang after them seem to know their every move though. Rutherford seems to know more about what is going on then he is saying.
87. Too Hot To Handle: Part III
Mel's brother and his girlfriend come to stay for the New Year. She thinks that they are going to see the new year in Trafalgar Square as she heads off to work. When the team are called out to an incident at a club she finds out they changed their plans.
