Season 3 Plot
The Biggest Loser (season 3) is the third season of the NBC reality television series entitled The Biggest Loser. The third season premiered on September 20, 2006 with fifty overweight contestants, each competing to lose the most weight. However, first, the group would be narrowed down to 14 after the trainers each selected seven competitors for their teams. The show was hosted by comedian Caroline Rhea. Bob Harper and Kim Lyons were the two personal trainers, with Bob leading the blue team and Kim leading the red team. The show's opening theme song was 'Proud' by Heather Small. The opening credits showed each contestant in turn, and displayed his or her starting weights. Each week of the show, one contestant was voted off by the others. Midway through the show, the two at-home participants who lost the most weight came back on the ranch. Ultimately, a set of four finalists were determined before the show began airing. On the final episode, aired live, those finalists reunited for a weigh-in to determine the winner. At the finale, it was revealed that Heather would not weigh in to compete for the prize money because she was 5 months pregnant. Of the three other finalists, Erik had the largest percentage of weight loss, with 214 lbs, which was 52.58% of his starting body weight. He received $250,000 for this feat. Additionally, Poppi from New Jersey, who lost the most of the 36 who didn't make it to the regular season won $50,000, and the individual who lost the most out of the remaining 14 who were on the show, but not finalists, won $100,000. This player was Brian from California, who lost 50.65% of his weight.

Season 3 Episodes
1. Season Premiere
Caroline Rhea is back to host The Biggest Loser's third season! This time, 50 contestants will be chosen - one from each state in the U.S. There will be new surprises awaiting them, including the introduction of the new Red Team trainer - Kim Lyons. The contestants will soon learn that only 14 of them will get to stay at the ranch, sending the remaining 36 back home to compete on their own, with a chance of returning to the ranch to win the $250,000 grand prize.
2. The Biggest Loser Goes to the Beach
The contestants take a trip the beach in order to get away from the ranch. After Bob and Kim put them all through a series of difficult workouts in the sand, the contestants realize it's not all fun at the beach. Also, one contestant receives some bad news from home, which could force them to leave the ranch.
3. Cruise Week
Bob and Kim teach their teams how to exercise and eat healthy while on a cruise vacation. Their weekly challenge will consist of them, the contestants, delivering room service orders all over the cruise ship for an opportunity to win time with their loved ones.
4. Free Pass
The red team begins to mentally fall apart from all the pressure, which leads to them refusing to follow Kim's lead, making her frustrated. Meanwhile, the contestants give the "temptation" a try to win a free pass and receive immunity for the week.
5. Gym Gone
The teams are shocked to learn that the gym has been locked for the week, which prompts Bob and Kim to teach them that they can workout anywhere without using the gym. Meanwhile, the Blue Team attempts to break their losing streak by winning the weekly challenge at the Los Angeles Coliseum.
6. Tough Choices
In order to keep their team together, one team will have to step it up after back-to-back losses. The weekly temptation will not make things any easier, as the losing team will be left without their trainer and have to order takeout for the next 72 hours.
7. Duos
Caroline informs the remaining players that from this point forward, the Red and Blue teams are no more. The players will now be paired up with another and compete as a duo, and one player will have the opportunity to decide who will compete as duos.
8. They're Back
They remaining players at the ranch are shocked when Caroline Rhea informs them that some of the 36 players sent home at the beginning will be rejoining them. Two players will be joining the competition at the ranch, and will have to struggle to adapt to Bob and Kim's training.
9. Individuals
As the players are narrowed down, Caroline reveals to everyone that they will now play as individuals. The remaining players will receive a makeover and a photo shoot to showcase their new thin bodies. And during the weekly challenge, one of the player's will have to face their greatest fear.
10. All About the Holidays
The players learn how to cook a healthy Thanksgiving dinner. Meanwhile, their challenge this week will involve the players putting on all the weight they've lost since they arrived at the ranch.
11. Back to School
Bob, Kim, and season 2 winner Matt Hoover head over to their high schools to teach the kids about childhood obesity, proper exercise, and nutrition. Meanwhile, Bob and Kim talk to the school lunch ladies about replacing the unhealthy food options with healthier ones. They will attempt to inspire the kids to change their unhealthy lifestyles and educate their families.
12. The Final Four
Bob, Kim, and season 2 winner Matt Hoover head over to their high schools to teach the kids about childhood obesity, proper exercise, and nutrition. Meanwhile, Bob and Kim talk to the school lunch ladies about replacing the unhealthy food options with healthier ones. They will attempt to inspire the kids to change their unhealthy lifestyles and educate their families.
13. Season Finale Live!
It's the final week at the ranch, and the remaining contestants prepare to return home. They will try to take what they've learned at the ranch and apply it to their every day lives to continue losing weight on their own.
