Sportscene returns with highlights from the first weekend of the new Scottish Premiership season. Champions Celtic begin their quest for a seventh league title in a row when they welcome Hearts to Parkhead. Last season's runners-up Aberdeen host Hamilton, while Rangers are away to Motherwelll. Hibernian, back in the top flight after three seasons in the Championship, host Partick Thistle, while Ross County are away to Dundee and Kilmarnock entertain St Johnstone.

This is one of the most exciting days in the Scottish football calendar as teams from the lower leagues aim to make history against more illustrious opponents. Championship side Brechin City travel south to face Celtic, current holders of all three Scottish football trophies and unbeaten in domestic cup competition since a Scottish Cup semi-final loss in April 2016. Elsewhere, there are two all-Premierships ties, including a Lanarkshire derby. The Edinburgh derby takes centre stage as these bitter rivals meet again in the cup. 2016 Scottish Cup winners Hibs knocked their neighbours out in a fifth-round replay last season and are currently nine games unbeaten against Craig Levein's Jambos. In the day's other cup tie, Rangers face a long journey north to take on Highland League side Fraserburgh. Holders Celtic take on Glasgow rivals Partick Thistle, hoping to continue their unbeaten domestic cup run. In another all-Premiership tie, Motherwell travel to Dundee hoping to maintain the cup form that saw them reach the League Cup final back in November. Championship side Greenock Morton travel to holders Celtic, hoping to hault the Bhoys unbeaten domestic cup run. Jim Duffy's side were knocked out by Celtic at this stage in 2016, while Brendan Rodgers's team are last season's Scottish Cup champions. Steve Clarke's rejuvenated Kilmarnock travel north to Aberdeen to face last year's finalists. The Ayrshire men are on a good run of form but have not reached the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup since 1997, when they went on to lift the famous trophy. Extended highlights of today's Old Firm Scottish Cup semi-final where last season's cup winners Celtic take on their old rivals Rangers at Hampden Park. It's the third time in a row the teams have met at this stage in the competition. In 2017 Brendan Rodgers' side won 2-0, going on to claim the treble. But the season before that Rangers were victorious following a penalty shoot-out, though went on to lose to Hibernian in the final.
