Questions arise regarding the validity of a heroic story from Wayne's past in the series premiere of a sitcom about perfectionist parents raising a brood of overachievers—plus one son who is content with mediocrity.

Paige and Wayne attend a Halloween party, and the kids decide to turn the family home into a haunted-house attraction, complete with a cadaver from the nearby teaching hospital.
