The first installment of Project Binky. Can two basket cases from Shropshire create one serious Mini? We're attempting to build the fastest Mini on the planet. The plan is to try and shoehorn all the engine and running gear from a Toyota Celica GT4 into a rotten Mini. Can we do this monster engine swap? Can we build an Austin Mini GT4? In part one of our side project, we take a 34 year old ex-library bus and begin its transformation into what we hope will be a hotel on wheels with the added bonus of being able to transport any of our vehicles at the same time. The venerable truck needs to go on a diet, so out come the power tools...

In part 4 of our side project, Nik reveals his cunning plan much to Richard's chagrin. We do some more stripping, more drilling, and there's a lot more impact gun action. The front axle gets some attention as we aim to get the truck back on her wheels.

We figured in the current rather uncertain climate you might like to have a laugh at our expense. So we whipped up another one of our outtakes videos - the first for a while - to hopefully bring you some cheer. With hours and hours of footage shot for each episode, we're bound to get some things wrong. And we get it wrong more than most probably. Feast on our f-ups; we hope you get a kick out of them!

In part 5 of our side project, we swap the rear axle for a much more modern unit from the DAF. But not before making even more mess of the poor old Cargo. The running gear exchange gets completed.

Faced with the reality of having to make a complete set of extended wheel arches for our turbo charged, 4WD monster mini, a chance meeting with a mad Spaniard gave us pause for thought. What if we could get someone else to do it? That was the main motivation behind this experiment in creating a bespoke body kit from 3D printed plastic.

It’s not often you get to see the nitty gritty of a retrimming project, so we thought it might be cool to let you all in behind the scenes at Trimworks while Dean brought Nik’s vision for Binky’s seats to life. There’s hog rings and listings, stitching and scrim foam and all kinds of terms I’d never come across before. Dean is an artist, so it was fantastic to watch him work his magic.

Well it was inevitable really, all good shows eventually pull one together while they’re working on the next episode. And yes we have been working on it, learning new skills and pioneering new techniques and we're almost at the end of a mammoth task.
