The second season of Private Practice premiered on October 1, 2008 and concluded on April 30, 2009. It consisted of 22 episodes.

Season 2 Episodes
1. A Family Thing
At Oceanside Wellness, friendships are tested and secrets revealed when Addison discovers that Naomi is concealing the practice's financial problems. Meanwhile, Violet wonders what secret Cooper is keeping from her, while Cooper himself has to decide whether or not to reveal a medical secret to a patient. Dell quits his job at Oceanside Wellness Group.
2. Equal and Opposite
Addison and Sam form a hostile takeover in order to bring the practice out of bankruptcy, as all of the doctors look for additional clients and new income streams, while Violet's friendship with Cooper is on the brink of extinction and a married couple fight for an unethical fertility treatment at Oceanside Wellness.
3. Nothing to Talk About
Charlotte tries to tempt Addison to come to St. Ambrose Hospital by promising her surgeries; Sam doubts his ability to save Oceanside Wellness from financial ruin; Pete's firefighter patient suffers an unusual form of post-traumatic stress disorder.
4. Past Tense
Sam and Naomi are against each other to lead the practice with unexpected results. Addison treats a girl trying to hide her past while Cooper has a dilemma of his own affecting his professional career.
5. Let It Go
Addison tries to fix the financial troubles at Oceanside Wellness, but ends up doing more harm than good. Meanwhile, Violet's friend asks her to break the law to help her while Maya hopes that Sam and Naomi are getting back together for good.
6. Serving Two Masters
Addison treats two pregnant women who unwittingly share the same husband; Violet confronts Charlotte about her liaison with Cooper; Dell reveals a special woman in his life.
7. Tempting Faith
Addison's brother makes a surprise visit, causing trouble for her, Sam and Naomi; Meg comes back to try and make it work with Pete; a patient accused of a crime angers Violet and Dell.
8. Crime and Punishment
Addison and Charlotte fight to save the lives of a woman in a coma and her unborn child; members of the Oceanside staff clash with Meg; when a patient is suspected of murdering his wife, Violet seeks Kevin's advice.
9. Know When to Fold
Pacific Wellcare, Charlotte's practice opens, and the competition with Oceanside Wellness starts; Dell suggests that an in-house adoption program should be created.
10. Worlds Apart
Meg returns to Los Angeles and notices that Violet and Pete have grown closer; Kevin questions where he and Addison are headed as a couple; Cooper treats a young boy with a mysterious past.
11. Contamination
When Cooper's patient contracts measles, everyone at Oceanside Wellness must be quarantined. Meanwhile, Naomi tries to talk Addison into working with her rival, Wyatt; Violet and Pete contemplate their friends-with-benefits relationship; and Dell fights for custody of his daughter.
12. Homeward Bound
With her relationship with Kevin on the rocks, Addison finds herself attracted to Wyatt. Violet looks for a way to have a relationship with both Pete and Sheldon. Meanwhile, Cooper and Charlotte become closer after a family emergency.
13. Nothing to Fear
Violet discovers she's pregnant, but is unsure which of the men in her life is the father of the child. Addison deals with her guilt for kissing Wyatt. Meanwhile, Charlotte proposes to Cooper.
14. Second Chances
Addison's brother, Archer, moves to Los Angeles to work at Pacific Wellcare; Cooper encourages Violet to discuss her pregnancy with Pete and Sheldon.
15. Acceptance
When Archer has a severe seizure, Addison and Naomi use every resource possible to determine the cause and a cure; Violet tells Pete and Sheldon that she is pregnant; Cooper cares for an abandoned patient.
16. Ex-Life
Derek asks Addison to work with his pregnant patient while Archer recuperates from surgery; Bailey and Naomi work together to find the cause of Sam's sudden asthma attack; Cooper, Violet and Pete treat a woman with postpartum depression.
17. Wait and See
Addison suspects that Archer is up to his old tricks; a patient's child is born with male and female reproductive organs; Violet and Sheldon co-lead a therapy group for couples.
18. Finishing
Addison flirts with a colleague at St. Ambrose Hospital; Sheldon and Pete try to convince Violet to take a paternity test; Sam accidentally calls Sonya by the wrong name.
19. What Women Want
A disturbed pregnant patient has lost her baby, and Violet must convince her that her baby needs surgery. Meanwhile, Cooper must tell a patient he needs part of his jaw removed due to a fast-growing cancer. Dell must cope with his daughter's absence when his ex has to move for a new job Sam and Addison must hold back their feelings for two unattainable people.
20. Do the Right Thing
Cooper struggles with the mother of a patient after learning she allows the 12-year old to be sexually active. Violet is jealous after Pete begins dating a patient's mom. Meanwhile, Sam is scheduled to testify at a colleagues trial for malpractice; and Addison continues to fight her romantic feelings for Noah.
21. What You Do for Love
Addison sends a pregnant woman to St. Ambrose for help from Noah after she experiences heart complications. Meanwhile, Sam begins to rethink his friendship with Naomi; Pete and Lisa's relationship becomes increasingly complex; and Sheldon takes a stand.
22. Yours, Mine and Ours
As Violoet chooses between Pete and Sheldon, she must also deal wtih a grief-stricken patient. Meanwhile, Dell worries about his daughter when Heather returns to town and Naomi debates moving to Pacific Wellcare.
