The crew of the Second Shift are having difficulty adjusting to their new lives, until Blaszkiewicz discovers cigarettes smuggled aboard by one of the frozen colonists.

When Blaszkiewicz annoys the rest of the crew by playing Donkey Kong nonstop, Gartner intervenes, and Blaszkiewicz must find a new hobby.

The fallout from the recorder fiasco continues to reverberate. Meanwhile, AMI seeks a better understanding of what makes Gartner tick.

Gartner wrestles with what to do about an unexpected personal betrayal. On Earth, a rift opens up between the show's presenters.

Aided by Freeman, Gartner launches a charm offensive against King, who tries his best to have a terrible time at his own birthday party.

When Freeman and Li discover a wine cooler stashed away aboard the ship, it drives a wedge between the crew members as they cannot decide who has earned the right to drink it.

Blaskiewicz confronts Freeman over things he said while Blaszkiewicz was high. Isolated by her position as Commander, Gartner admits to AMI that she misses companionship.

Gartner and Freeman cover up a secret. Blaszkiewicz, convinced the secret is a hidden speakeasy, attempts to discover the truth.

Blaszkiewicz's search for the hidden speakeasy leads to unexpected revelations.

AMI must resolve a contradiction in her objectives. Freeman wishes he could tell someone a truth that might cost them both. And Gartner waits patiently as her plan works in the background.
