An undocumented immigrant turned trauma surgeon treats a male who has been ingesting metallic objects. An old-school surgeon makes up for his lack of bedside manner with his skills in the operating room. A pediatric surgeon discusses the complicated and dangerous procedure of removing a tumor from the heart of a 4 year old girl.

A veteran of the Gulf War patiently waits for a donor heart. A serious of violent crimes keeps a surgical resident busy on a Friday night. Dr. Mehmet Oz preps for a colonoscopy, but isn't too busy to quiz his colleagues about their dietary habits.
6. Episode 6
A single mother with breast cancer finds out if her disease has spread; a surgical resident gets marital advice from a colleague; a first-year emergency-medicine resident's even temper helps him deal with inebriated patients and treat a woman that was in a car accident, but his self-control abandons him during a prank by his coworkers.
7. Episode 7
A collegiate swimmer whose arm was injured in a car accident requires a delicate surgery; a trauma surgeon counsels the family of a man who was run over by a car; a pediatric surgeon operates on a newborn; an ER doctor treats a woman with a life-threatening condition and is serenaded by a patient who needs stitches in his hand.
8. Episode 8
In the season finale, a banker and mother undergoes a risky cancer operation known as ex vivo; a cardiac surgeon realizes the unpredictability of a career in medicine; and an ER nurse is wooed by a dwarf stripper who was hurt while performing at a party, and whose cheating ex's best friend is a patient with a leg injury.
