Colonel Arthur and Dolly Bantry wake up to the news that a body has been found in their library. She is soon identified as Ruby Keene, a dancer at the Majestic in Danemouth, a seaside resort. Dolly takes her friend, Jane Marple, to the Majestic and together they work to solve the mystery.

While the investigation centres on the Jefferson family and their entourage, Miss Marple's hunch about a second killing proves all too tragically justified.

Concluding part of an adaptation of Agatha Christie's novel. Miss Marple is convinced that the death of schoolgirl Pamela Reeve holds the key to the mystery of the double murder.

Poison pen letters are being sent to everyone in town. It seems like a vulgar joke until a letter is found next to a suicide victim. Then another body is found, and another...

Inspector Craddock gathers more clues, and uncovers a link to the mysterious sister and brother Pip and Emma. Do they live abroad, or in Scotland, or in Chipping Cleghorn? Meanwhile, Miss Marple is able to learn information that people wouldn't tell a policeman.

Inspector Craddock is alarmed to find that Miss Marple has gone missing - has she become another victim of the murderer?

When the members of a wealthy banking family start dropping like flies, Miss Marple is reminded of the old nursery rhyme Sing a Song of Sixpence and vows to find the villainous "blackbird" behind the crimes.
