n late 2007 Jeff Beck played several shows at Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club in London and he awed and enthralled the audiences with his searing, exquisite and ethereal guitar virtuosity. He's a complete master of the fretboard and whammy bar whose guitar can sound angelic and then suddenly thunderous. Many of his most riveting and agressive songs were played including "Becks Bolero," "Big Block," Brush With The Blues" and the intense "Scatterbrain." Coldplay make a triumphant return to Glastonbury three years after their last Pyramid headline slot. There’s a huge crowd to watch Chris and the boys all resplendent in black and the number of flags swaying in front of the stage is probably the most I’ve ever seen before the stage. Their anthemic tunes appear to have been written especially for these moments. They open with ‘Square One’ the first track off the new album X&Y and it would seem a lot of the audience have the album already. It’s a great opening track and any nerves the band may have aren’t being revealed tonight. It has a slightly spacey grandiose feel to it, and perfect for a Pilton nightfall. ‘Politik’ follows, the first song from ‘Rush of Blood’ and it’s slow building delivery causes more flag swaying and we get a tailor made verse for the moment about Glastonbury and from that moment on the crowd are nestling up to Coldplay, embracing their performance. But for the stragglers out there trying to dance in the sticky mud, ‘Yellow’ is fantastically delivered and the crowd are a few sceptics out there in the dark are becoming Coldplay fans. ‘God Put A Smile Upon Your Face’ continues to build the atmosphere then Christ Martin yells out, “Crazy Frog where are you now?” before the crowd favourite ‘Speed of Sound.’ Then there’s a magic moment, as he dedicates ‘Till Kingdom Come’ to all the Dads out there. Awww, it’s great to get recognition. We’ve all forgotten the mud and tribulations of the day as the band deliver more tunes. Highlights being ‘The Scientist,’ ‘Don’t Panic,’ and ‘Clocks’ and close their set with ‘Swallowed In The Sea’ and it’s been emotional. Female Coldplay fans are in tears, saying how this is the best performance they’ve ever seen by the band. Coldplay return to encore with a nod to Kylie who was unable to headline the Sunday due to illness. With a pumped up version of ‘Can’t Get You Out Of My Head.’ Before we all raise our voices to the stars with the Glasto anthems ‘In My Place’ and ‘Fix You.’ A flawless performance and a fantastic end to the Saturday and we all head off happy to have been a part of another golden Glasto moment. Can’t help thinking as we walk away that more and more Coldplay are transforming into U2. Often Chris imitates Bono’s mannerisms on stage and much of the new material has U2 leanings. hough Morning View follows hot on the heels of Incubus's breakthrough single, "Drive," it doesn't feel rushed. After all, their previous album, Make Yourself, was released nearly two years ago. Like fellow Los Angeles metal pioneers System of a Down, Incubus find themselves lumped in with the nu-metal fraternity merely because they're young(ish), angry, and very loud. That's more than a little unfair, because their sound owes more to the clever and creative funk-metal of Faith No More and the Red Hot Chili Peppers than the faux-rap posturing of Limp Bizkit. In fact, songs like "Nice to Know You," "Circles," and the excellent "Blood on the Ground" display real maturity. But that's not all that sets Incubus apart: on "I Wish You Were Here," "Just a Phase," "11 a.m.," and "Mexico," they show an uncharacteristic willingness to tread softly, using acoustic guitars and touches of strings to make less noise, but more impact. Some could call it selling out, but it sounds more like growing up. Morning View is a leap forward for a band that continues to get better with each release.

10cc Alive: The Classic Hits Tour brings back a lot of good memories and while the quality of the DVD is okay, the music itself is great. It was filmed during the band's comeback tour in Japan in the early '90s and has most of the songs 10cc fans want to hear. It has to be said I was a tad gobsmacked that I'm Mandy Fly Me wasn't included - but, hey, when have I ever been a good judge of music?! The video transfer is very soft, although the colours are fine, and the sound is a tad muddy. Keeping in mind that these guys were well ahead of the pack in terms of additional sounds in their albums that's a bit disappointing. However, all that said, it is fantastic to have these guys on DVD as a permanent record of how great a group they were. Fans should have a really good look at this one! "One Man Band" tells the story of Taylor's songs through exclusive interviews and rare multi-media footage, including home movies and photographs from Taylor's personal archives. The result is an extraordinary, one-of-a-kind portrait of an artist, his renowned repertoire and the personal stories behind the songs. Drawn from Taylor's recent concerts at the Colonial Theatre in the Berkshires and features new performances from some of the iconic singer/songwriter's most beloved recordings including "Something in the Way," "Carolina in my Mind," and "Fire and Rain," interspersed with Taylor's insightful and humorous anecdotes on the inspiration for the songs. Jeff Beck - "Four Faces of Guitar" Performing 2 songs with UPP on BBC TV 1976 Around 1975 Jeff Beck became involved with the group Upp (who were originally were going to be called 3 Upp). Basically, they were a funky white soul group and Beck produced their album "UPP" (Epic KE 33439) and played on it. This is the only time Beck ever produced an outside group (even to this day). Beck also played 2 songs on their second album "UPP -This Way Up" (Epic PE 34177) and joined them on this BBC broadcast "Four Faces Of Guitar". Along with the 2 songs performed, Jeff is interviewed and discusses his techniques and the equipment he uses to acquire the sounds he produces. A must for any Jeff Beck fan! One of British rock's most beloved singers, Steve Marriott climbed to fame as the front man of two legendary English rock groups--the mod legends the Small Faces and R&B-influenced Humble Pie. Filmed live in 1985, Marriott performs songs spanning the length of his long, diverse, and prolific career. On the ornate stage of London's Camden Palace Theatre, the rock legend performs a set which includes 'Shame, Shame, Shame' and 'Tin Soldier'.

On the 'Live in Samois' recording, The Rosenberg Trio once again proves their pre-eminence as the world's greatest gypsy swing guitar ensemble. From the opening bars of the standard "Rose Room", the group establishes a comfort zone by presenting this standard with all its melodic beauty. But then some forty seconds later something remarkable happens. Lead guitarist Stochelo Rosenberg begins to take this old reliable jazz number off the ground and it never again lands until the final chords fade away. This first tune is only a hint of what is to follow. With varying degrees of speed, nuance, playfulness and poignancy Rosenberg, his brother Nonnie (bass) and his cousin Nous'che (rhythm guitar) simply dazzle. Lead lines of a complexity and speed that would take other gifted guitarists a week to master erupt out of Stochelo only to be followed by others even more sensitive or intricate. Behind these brilliant lead treatments the sixteen tunes come to life and their pulse is provided by a flawless rhythm section--Nous'che plays harder and faster than any other rhythm player you'll find out there today and Nonnie's remarkably nimble backbeat on upright bass at times matches his brother's soloing note-for-note.

Appearances that Vaughan and his solid band, Double Trouble, made on the PBS concert series Austin City Limits. The concerts were taped in 1983 and 1989; both provide a valuable portrait of Vaughan's astounding artistic development. The performances serve as bookends to Vaughan's brilliant career with Double Trouble, showing (in the words of producer Terry Lickona) a striking contrast between "zero self-confidence" and "pure magic," but in both cases you can see a master at work. Songs include "Pride and Joy," "Texas Flood," "Voodoo Chile," "Cold Shot," and "Riviera Paradise." This great-sounding DVD also includes the posthumous music video "Little Wing," featuring clips of Double Trouble and archival footage of blues greats from the 1920s to the mid-1990s.

TV broadcast of the Tokyo Dome concert from 25 October 1988] "Sting in Tokyo" is the concert event of the TV season. . Sting's ability to slide easily from one musical form to another is just one of many reasons to be enthusiastic about this show. He rocks out with 'Rock Steady', followed by 'Sister Moon's' bluesy, jazz treatment, which gives saxophonist Branford Marsalis an opportunity to shine. Next up is the reggae-accented 'One World', followed by 'Bring on the Night'/'When the World is Running Down', a pair of poignant pieces performed with emphasis on the words. 'King of Pain', a song so closely identified with Sting that many will have forgotten that it appeared on the Police's 1983 album, 'Synchronicity', sounds amazingly fresh here. Marsalis is extraordinary on reeds and even takes some turns helping percussionist Mino Cinelu with his array of unusual instruments, which give interesting and unexpected textures to Sting's music. Marsalis is so good and featured so much, this concert could bear his name as headliner. Kenny Kirkland and Delmar Brown always have the right keyboard phrasing, shifting as easily as Sting through the array of this concert's musical styles. Sting clearly doesn't tolerate musicians who go for a certain consistent sound and carry it through a performance or album. Major credit is due Dolette McDonald, whose energy and ability stretch far beyond the usual confines of the term "backup singer." Sting is a master at using his voice as a musical instrument and of letting the lyrics sell a song when that's appropriate. The music takes center stage, because Sting doesn't confuse the presentation with a lot of razzle-dazzle. He may not be glittery and overblown, but Sting manages to retain command of the stage. I've never seen Sting in person, but his past TV concert performances and a revealing interview-jam on "Showtime Coast-to-Coast" last season have been impressive. "Sting in Tokyo" is more impressive than those.

Synchronicity Concert. Shot in Atlanta during November 1983, the show mixes the old with the then-new. From 1978’s debut album Outlandos D’Amour, we find “Hole In My Life”, “Can’t Stand Losing You”, and “So Lonely”; to my surprise, we don’t discover megahit “Roxanne”. 1979’s Regatta De Blanc delivers “Message In a Bottle” and “Walking On the Moon”. 1980’s Zenyatta Mondatta provides “De Do Do Do De Da Da Da” while 1981’s Ghost In the Machine features “One World” and “Spirits in the Material World”. Finally, the then-current Synchronicity gives us “Synchronicity I”, “Walking In Your Footsteps”, “Wrapped Around Your Finger”, “King of Pain”, “Tea In the Sahara”, “O My God”, and “Every Breath You Take”.

Human Rights Now! was a worldwide tour of 20 benefit concerts on behalf of Amnesty International that took place over six weeks in 1988. Held not to raise funds but to increase awareness of Amnesty and to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the shows featured Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Sting, Peter Gabriel, Tracy Chapman, and Youssou N'Dour.

It was nominated for "Best Music Video: Long Form" at the 2004 Grammy Awards. The song "Moses", exclusive to this album, was written about Chris Martin's wife Gwyneth Paltrow. This song inspired the name of Chris and Gwyneth's second child, Moses Bruce Anthony Martin, born in 2006.

Where the Light Is: John Mayer Live in Los Angeles, commonly referred to as Where the Light Is, is a live album and concert film by American blues-rock musician John Mayer. Released on July 1, 2008, the album documents Mayer's performance at the L.A. Live Nokia Theatre, Los Angeles, California on December 8, 2007, during the promotional tour for his 2006 third studio album Continuum. The concert in question, which was for the Annual John Mayer Holiday Charity Revue, featured three separate performances: the first an acoustic set by Mayer alone, the second with the John Mayer Trio, and the third with Mayer's regular touring band. The title of the album is taken from a line in the song "Gravity", which was released as the second single from Continuum on January 31, 2007. Where the Light Is was released in a number of formats, including, for the audio album, Compact Disc, LP album and digital download; and, for the video album, DVD and Blu-ray Disc; as well as a 2CD+DVD set. His famous live acoustic cover of "Free Fallin'," originally by Tom Petty, from this album was released as a single and met with wide critical acclaim. The song "No Such Thing" was played on the evening but did not make it to the DVD release for unknown reasons. The video was leaked and can be found on YouTube.

Radiohead played nine songs from their new album, Hail to the Thief, but paced them so they didn't interrupt the flow of hits. "There There" set a dramatic tone for the two-hour show — the band's first in North America in almost two years — which featured a range of electronic-filled, noisy guitar-based and melodic pop songs that spanned the past 13 years of Radiohead's recording career.
