1. The Problem
In the first of a two-part programme, she assesses the possible reasons for the situation, including unconscious biases in recruitment and promotion, and asks whether female employees are too reticent in seeking pay rises. She also talks to stay-at-home mothers about their ambitions, and submits her own logistics company to a gender audit.
2. The Solution
The entrepreneur explores ways to help women prosper in the workplace, beginning by visiting Norway to assess the effectiveness of a law that requires a minimum 40 per cent of boardroom positions to be awarded to female candidates. She then analyses initiatives introduced by some of Britain's biggest companies to help working mothers, discovers why the British government is considering major changes to parental leave, and decides to improve the prospects for women in her own business - beginning with the predominantly male warehouse team.
