Faking It: Tears of a Crime Season 1

Part 1 recounts the disappearance of Shannon Matthews in February 2008. After several emotional appeals by her mother Karen for Sharon's safe return, the country looked on in disbelief when Karen confessed to a Police Officer that it was all an elaborate hoax. Part 2 of the show focuses on schoolgirl killer Stuart Hazell who appeared tearful and distraught following the disappearance of 12-year-old Tia Sharp in August 2012.

Part 2 details the horrific story of The Philpotts. On 11 May 2012, the family's home in Allenton, Derby, was seriously damaged by fire at around 4am. Five children who had been asleep upstairs — all died at the scene, while their half-brother died in hospital three days later.
