1. A Jolt to the Heart
A father and son fishing trip is reeled in by excruciating back pain. A mom convinces her young construction worker son to get treatment for a boil under his arm. A grandmother forgets to take her medication and needs a jolt to slow her racing heart.
2. Ring Problem
A pragmatic man has two life threatening conditions: treating one could exacerbate the other. A captivating couple seek a solution to their engaging ring problem. An anxious woman fears the worst when her heart rate suddenly accelerates.
3. All in the Family
A forklift operator faces possible amputation after a workplace injury. A young woman yawns with open-jawed results. An elderly man falls in his home and is examined for possible stroke in the hospital where his granddaughter works as a nurse.
4. Oh Doctor!
A man with shortness of breath discovers he may have a collapsed lung. A truck driver injuries his fingers on the job and worries about providing for his family.
5. Playground Hi-Jinks
A young woman suffers mysterious stomach pains. An 8-year-old’s playground hi-jinks require a trip to the ER. A diabetic man waited too long to get treatment.
6. Injured Fiancé
A young mother is examined for injury as a result of a frightening accident. A soon-to-be-wed man sustains a cut a little too close for comfort. An elderly badminton player falls onto his hand during a match resulting in what he thinks is a sprain.
7. Twice Broken
A 13-year-old boy breaks his arm for the second time. A young woman collapses while her nails are being done. A young man worries he has an STD.
8. Under a Tree
An arborist falled by a toppled tree fears a spinal injury. A stoic newlywed injuries her hand when running after children. A family looks for an explanation for their aged mother's ongoing fatigue.
9. Possible Stroke
A woman with multiple sclerosis fears she's experiencing a stroke. A glassworker uses humour to cope with a serious injury. An elderly woman hopes there is a positive outcome to her husband's chest pains. A charge nurse talks about her love for caregiving.
10. Behind the Wheel
A truck driver experiencing numbness on one side of his body worries he won't be able to work if he's had a stroke. A feisty senior is keen to get to a barbeque but first wants to find out what's making him so dizzy. Nurse Kelly's mom brings her a gift. A fussy toddler with a persistent cough has her family on their toes.
11. Lost Scorpion
A scorpion bite sends a woman to emergency. A music teacher trips and suffers a potentially debilitating injury. A woman recovering from a serious motorcycle accident fears infection.
12. Ten Foot Fall
A man stepped backwards off a loading dock and fell ten feet onto his head causing sizable blood loss. A post-casino stumble means a grandma has a larger foot than she'd been betting on. A baking accident leaves a teen with a sore hand. An exhausted chemotherapy patient coping with late stage cancer gets topped up.
13. Familiar Face
Multiple shocks fail to slow a patient’s racing heart. A young woman is brought in by ambulance after being in a car accident. ER staff are greeted by a familiar face.
14. Soccer Practice
A dad runs over his son’s foot on the way to soccer practice. A garbage truck driver learns a painful lesson. A man falls off a ladder and can’t visit his disabled wife.
