1. The Game

June 17th, 1999

Jen (Vicki Pepperdine) is attempting to secure funding for her devised theatre company, Le Jeu, which consists of herself, and two others, Ben (Ben Miller) and Claudia (Joanna Scanlan). They are shortly joined by the insecure and unstable Kim (Julia Davis) drummer Keith (Huw Chadbourn) and finally Scottish singer Paisley Johnstone (Elaine C. Smith). With Paisley on board Le Jeu are eligible to apply for funding from a new Trans-Ecosse scheme dreamt up by arts council drama director Grahame Cunliffe (David Walliams). The scheme insists upon rehearsal and performances of the funded production in Scotland and is soon revealed to be a cover for Cunliffe's relationship with fiancee Fiona (Mabel Aitken), who works in Scotland, so they can spend some time together. Le Jeu are given a very short time to prepare for their upcoming show and as a result tensions run high and tempers fray...

2. Thanks for the Cake

June 24th, 1999

Le Jeu arrives in Scotland. The local press are very interested in their upcoming production of 'Blood and Oatmeal', primarily because PJ will be appearing in it and a lot of her live in Scotland. Jen is being pursued by Grahame Cunliffe despite the fact that he is about to marry his fiancee Fiona. Kim is busy cultivating a Scottish accent and leading on a local cabbie, whilst PJ and Keith become closer, much to Claudia's annoyance. Jen is horrified when she learns that the venue is sold out on opening night to people who she thinks can only be jazz fans. Worse is to come for Jen when Kim destroys the production by overdosing on temazepam and PJ takes over singing some of her songs to save the peformance. Whilst PJ signs her CD's in the foyer, Ben discovers he is being stalked by his ex-boyfriend Amir and Jen loses it with Kim...
