Season 3 Plot
The third season of Australian Idol debuted on 26 July 2005. The first of three semi-finals was held on 16 August 2005 with three of the Final 12 contenders announced the following night on 17 August 2005. 2Day FM radio host Kyle Sandilands replaced former judge Ian Dickson.

Season 3 Episodes
1. Audition 1: Brisbane/Hobart
Australian Idol 2005 is off with Marcia, Mark and new judge Kyle. Australia\\\'s search for talent begins!
2. Audition 2: Melbourne
Auditions move to chilly Melbourne where more of Australia\\\'s talented, and not-so-talented, turn up for a chance to warm up to the judges.
3. Audition 3: Perth/Adelaide
The judges endure more lackluster auditions in Perth, and the gang is welcomed upon their arrival in Adelaide by a special guest.
4. Audition 4: Sydney
The weary judges finish the open-audition process with one last stop in Sydney.
5. From 150 to 78
In Sydney, the excited group of 150 contestants gets wheedled down to 78. Then trios are chosen and start practicing for the next phase.
6. Top 30
Trios perform, and emotions run high as the number of contestants gets cut down to 30.
