A&E After Dark (2020-2025) - Season 2 Episodes and Ratings

The return of the documentary going behind the scenes at Hull Royal Infirmary to show the night-time challenges facing NHS staff working in the A&E department. A patient in police custody is brought in for treatment to a split eyebrow and some facial wounds, while the resus team attempts to save the life of a patient who is rushed into hospital in cardiac arrest.

A 19-year-old woman comes to Hull Royal Infirmary after falling off a barstool in a pub and landing on her little finger, while a 53-year-old man arrives after blacking out and falling down a flight of stairs in his block of flats. Meanwhile, staff deal with a 34-year-old who has been thrown off his motocross bike in a race and has fractured and dislocated both shoulders.

Hull Royal Infirmary staff have to deal with abusive patients disrupting care due to Covid restrictions preventing family members from entering the waiting room. After her motorcycle collided with a deer at 60mph, 56-year-old Tracy is rushed in, and consultant Dr Andy must establish why she is having trouble feeling her legs, while Adam is devastated when an accident in the gym means he may not be able to compete in Hull's strongest man contest.

Two people arrive after jumping from an upstairs window during a house fire and consultant Andy must manage their care and ensure that Resus runs smoothly as other serious cases arrive. Plus, a patient becomes agitated after waiting to be seen for a bleeding hand and an intervention is needed as Jr Sister Kirsty and the security team struggle to calm him down.

A patient brought into A&E by police claims to have swallowed drugs, but he refuses to co-operate with staff, putting the NHS under further pressure.

Retired coach driver Paul is rushed in after falling onto fire-stoking tools, while a 21-year-old Harris is brought in by police after allegedly being attacked by someone with a machete. After being thrown from his motorbike in a road traffic collision, 19-year-old Callum arrives in resus by ambulance, while nine-year-old Kayden is in the paediatrics department with a broken leg after falling off his scooter.

Security is called after a patient suspected of having Covid-19 ties wires around his door handles in protest after being asked not to roam around the department, while 25-year-old Chelsea arrives in resus by air ambulance after being hit by a car while on a night out. In minors, 68-year-old Roger has managed to accidentally swallow disinfectant and is worried he's caused serious internal damage, while a team tries to revive a patient who is having a cardiac arrest.

Security are called when a patient is abusive to the nurses and doctors and Emma arrives by air ambulance after falling 30 feet off a castle wall.

Four men from Sudan are brought into hospital by police, suspected of being illegal immigrants, after being found at the ferry port.

A patient ignores hospital policy and refuses to leave A&E after his treatment and staff and security end up in the firing line when he lashes out aggressively, while doctor Sean assesses 27-year-old Chris, who lost control of his motorbike and crushed his leg.

After being run over by a car, Sue arrives with spinal and head injuries and Ethan starts to show signs of severe memory loss after banging his head at the skate park.
