Zac Efron to Play Notorious Serial Killer Ted Bundy in New Film
The descriptor "lady-killer" suddenly applies to Zac Efron in a disturbing, new way.
The "Baywatch" actor has signed on to play serial killer Ted Bundy in the upcoming indie drama "Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile," Variety reports. It will be a dark role, that's for sure; the infamous criminal confessed to the murders of 30 women before he was executed in 1989, and the actual number may be even higher.
Efron seems like a good fit for the part. Bundy was known for being handsome and charming, in spite of the ugly acts he was capable of. We'll see just that in the film. The story focuses on his turbulent relationship with his girlfriend Liz, a relationship that lasted years in spite of her suspicious that he might be behind the disappearances of women in areas where he lived during that time.
The original screenplay was written by Michael Werwie, and Joe Berlinger is directing the film. Principal photography for "Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile" is slated to begin Oct. 9.
