Wrestler Roman Reigns Makes Screen Debut as The Rock's Brother in 'Hobbs & Shaw'
As if you needed more or a reason to get hyped for "Fast and Furious' spinoff "Hobbs & Shaw," The Rock just shared a set photo of his perfectly cast new screen brother.
Wrestler Roman Reigns will make his film debut as brother to The Rock's burly agent Luke Hobbs.
The Rock (aka Dwayne Johnson) shared this photo of his new screen bro on Instagram: "Good times droppin’ sweat and spillin’ blood with my family, @RomanReigns who’ll be playing my brother in our FAST & FURIOUS UNIVERSE. I’m very proud of his focus, effort and authentic performance in our movie for his very first time on film. "
He also said he was grateful to spend time with "my cousin here in the islands as he takes life one day at a time to recover from leukemia."
Reigns shared his own photo on Instagram, saying:
"Family Healing! I cannot thank my family, friends and my new FAST & FURIOUS FAMILY enough for all the love and support.... The time I've spent with my cousin on this wonderful island has truly been a healing grace. I am grateful to the WWE, The Rock, and Universal Pictures, and everyone on the set of HOBBS & SHAW, for allowing me to be a part of this franchise.
"All of your outreach and support has been a blessing and it's only pushed me to get back in the ring as soon as possible. But until then...I'm excited for this movie to premiere this summer, our culture and mana in this film is strong."
Reigns, a former football player, was signed by WWE in 2010 and went on to become a four-time world champion. His battle with leukemia meant he had to take a leave from WWE but if he's well enough to do the haka with Johnson, that's great news.
"Hobbs & Shaw" reteams Johnson and Jason Statham as his former foe Shaw, adding Idris Elba to the mix as Brixton, "an international terrorist leader and a criminal mastermind."
It roars into theaters on August 2.
