Will 'The Walking Dead' Season 8 Kill Off One of the Babies?
The stuffed bunny has fans nervous.
"The Walking Dead" Season 8 started by aging baby Judith into toddler Judith and then -- or so it seemed -- 5 or 6-year-old Judith. But then we met Baby Gracie, daughter of a now deceased Savior. The most recent episode showed Rick Grimes carrying Gracie and handing her to Aaron, who said he'd take her to the Hilltop where she'd be safe.
Sounds good -- a friend for Judith and future Baby Gleggie! But the flash-forward child we assumed was Judith was shown carrying the same stuffed rabbit Rick saw in Gracie's crib:

So ... what's happening there? Is the older child Gracie and not Judith? If so, where was Judith, and had more time passed in that flash-forward than we initially thought? 'Cause Judith appeared to be at least a couple of years older than Gracie. If that was Judith and not Gracie with the rabbit, where was Gracie? Did she die? Did they decide to share the bunny? Why would Gracie be running to Alexandria bosses Rick and Michonne if she's being raised at Hilltop?
For what it's worth, Ross Marquand (Aaron) said on "Talking Dead" that he didn't think Aaron's intention was to raise Gracie himself. "Maybe. I think that certainly could be a possibility in Season 11 or 12."
The bunny looked like an obvious clue, but the solution is not so obvious. Maybe both girls are still alive in that mysterious future scene, if we can even trust that that was a real glimpse into the future.
Or maybe this is like "Highlander," and there can be only one.
"The Walking Dead" comic book readers know that Judith died a long time ago in the graphic novel. There was a time when the writers were pushing to kill her off on TV. Now there are two young'uns, plus Baby Gleggie on the way (eventually). Maggie's pregnancy is in the comic book, but Gracie appears to be a new just-for-TV character.
Is this the future being born, or foreshadowing that not all of the Little Ass-Kickers will make it?
"The Walking Dead" airs Sundays at 9 p.m. on AMC.
