'The Secret Life of Pets 2' (August 13)

The sequel to the 2016 hit animated film finds Max the Jack Russell terrier coping with a major life change when his owner gets married, has a baby, and moves to the countryside. Max encounters unfriendly cows, fearsome foxes, and a terrifying turkey. But he also makes a friend out of Rooster, a gruff farm dog who wants to help Max get over his neuroses.

'Why Women Kill' (August 15)

This CBS All-Access dark comedy comes from "Desperate Housewives" creator Marc Cherry. The show, which will release new episodes weekly, details the lives of three women living in three different decades: a housewife in the '60s, a socialite in the '80s and a lawyer in 2019, each dealing with infidelity in their marriages. The series will examine how the roles of women have changed, but how their reaction to betrayal ... has not. Lucy Liu, Ginnifer Goodwin and Kirby Howell-Baptiste star.

'Avengers: Endgame' (August 13)

The culmination of Marvel's four-phase "Infinity" saga comes to a spectacular close. Picking up after half of the living disappeared from the universe, the story follows the remaining Avengers -- led by Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) and Captain America (Chris Evans) as they work to bring back their friends and loved ones and defeat Thanos once and for all.

The movie arrives on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD on August 13 (and is already available on Digital HD). Bonus content includes deleted scenes, gag reel, and a tribute to the late comics legend Stan Lee.

'All Is True' (August 13)

Director Kenneth Branagh lines up an all-star cast, including himself as William Shakespeare, Judi Dench as his wife Anne Hathaway, and Ian McKellen as the Earl of Southampton. After the Globe Theatre burns down in 1613 during a performance of  "Henry VIII," Shakespeare and Anne return home to Stratford.

The movie arrives on Digital, Blu-ray and DVD on August 13. Bonus content includes multiple making-of featurettes and a Q&A with Branagh.

'The Inland Sea' (August 13): Criterion's latest release is this poetic documentary from Lucille Carra, who was inspired by Donald Richie's travelogue book about the islands of Japan's Inland Sea. The eye-opening voyage also features interesting detours, like a visit to a leper colony.

'Mindhunter' Season 2 (August 16)

The first season began to delve into how FBI agents interviewed locked-up murderers to understand they psychologies and Season 2 goes even further — and darker.  Season 2 is set in 1979-1981, during the time of the Atlanta child murders.  In order to crack the case, FBI agents Holden​ ​Ford (Jonathan Groff) and Bill Tench (Holt​ ​McCallany) turn to such iconic serial killers as Son of Sam and Charles Manson (played by Damon Herriman, who also plays the cult leader in Quentin Tarantino's "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood").

'Sextuplets' (August 16)

Marlon Wayans takes on six roles in this comedy. First up, he plays Alan, who grew up thinking he was an only child. While searching for his birth mother, he learns the truth — he is far, far from being an only child. First, he meets his long-lost brother Russell and then the two of them go on a journey to find their other four siblings. But soon Alan starts wondering if he should've stayed an only child after all.

TV WORTH WATCHING

'Our Boys' Limited Series Premiere, HBO (August 12, 9 p.m.)

The 10-episode miniseries is a harrowing look at the boiling tensions in the Middle East. In the summer of 2014, three Jewish teenagers are kidnapped and murdered by Hamas militants. Israel is shocked, shaken and furious. Two days later, the burned body of a Palestinian teenager from eastern Jerusalem is found. An agent  investigates the murder, while the parents of the slain teenager begin their long and anguished journey toward justice and consolation.

'The Terror: Infamy' Season 2 Premiere, AMC (August 12, 9 p.m.)

The second season of the anthology drama centers on Chester Nakayama (Derek Mio) and his family as they deal with the effects of WWII on Japanese-Americans while an unsettled spirit — a yurei — terrorizes their internment camp. "Star Trek" icon George Takei, who was imprisoned in two internment camps as a child, co-stars and serves as a consultant for this season.

'The Righteous Gemstones' Series Premiere, HBO (August 18, 10 p.m.)

Danny McBride's newest comedy series centers on the family of a world-famous televangelist, who are living proof that worship pays dividends in all sizes, including their megachurch. McBride stars as Jesse Gemstone, who is looking to follow in his father's footsteps  but finds his past sins jeopardizing the family ministry
