'Veronica Mars' Revival Brings Back Max Greenfield, Adds Patton Owalt
Hulu's revival of "Veronica Mars" continues to bring in old and new stars for the eight-episode continuation of the beloved series and 2014 movie.
Max Greenfield will reprise his role as Leo D’Amato, who was a sheriff's deputy and a sometime love interest for Veronica (Kristen Bell) in the first three seasons of the show. In the movie, he'd graduated to detective at the San Diego Police Department and helped Veronica in her investigation of Carrie Bishop's murder.
Greenfield is currently starring in the CBS sitcom "The Neighborhood" and previously broke out in Fox's "New Girl."
The revival has also cast Patton Oswalt as the recurring character Penn Epner, the "best pizza delivery guy in Neptune” (or so he claims). Pizza delivery is his job, but his passion is true crime" and he is a frequent poster on unsolved murder websites.
They join returning cast members Jason Dohring, Enrico Colantoni, Percy Daggs III, and Francis Capra, and new recruit Kirby Howell-Baptiste.
In the revival, a rash of spring break murders in Neptune has decimated tourism in the seaside town. Mars Investigations is hired by the parents of one of the victims to find the killer. Soon, Veronica (Bell) is drawn into a battle between Neptune's wealthy elite, who disapprove of the spring break bacchanalia, against the working class that depends on the cash influx.
