Val Kilmer Opened Up About His Cancer Battle in AMA on Reddit
It looks like Val Kilmer is ready to clear up some misconceptions about his health.
The actor got some unwanted attention in late 2016 when his "Ghost and the Darkness" co-star Michael Douglas told reporters in London that he was battling cancer.
"Things don't look too good for him," he said at the time, as the Telegraph reported.
Kilmer soon responded to Douglas's comments in a Facebook post, but his message was a little ambiguous. While Kilmer admitted he'd had a lump in his throat, he didn't clarify whether or not it was cancerous.
"I love Michael Douglas but he is misinformed," he wrote. "The last time I spoke to him was almost two years ago, when I asked him for a referral for a specialist to get a diagnosis for a lump in my throat ... I ended up using a team at UCLA and have no cancer whatsoever."
Last week, however, Kilmer clarified that he had been diagnosed with cancer. During an AMA on Reddit on Wednesday, he answered a user's question about "the story behind" Douglas's claim. Kilmer shared that he'd had "a healing of cancer" and suggested that Douglas was "probably trying to help" when he discussed the matter.
Kilmer's health information should be his to share (or not share), of course, but it's good to hear that he is doing well.
