Ubisoft's popular game The Division will be a Netflix movie. The big announcement came Monday during the video game company's presentation at E3, per THR.

The movie will star Jessica Chastain and Jake Gyllenhaal, directed by "Deadpool 2" helmer David Leitch. Screenwriter Rafe Judkins has been tasked with adapting the video game to screenplay. The logline, unveiled by Netflix on Monday, offers a glimpse at the "Division" story. Here's what it says:

In the near future, a pandemic virus is spread via paper money on Black Friday, decimating the city of New York and killing millions. By Christmas, what's left of society has descended into chaos. A group of civilians, trained to operate in catastrophic times, are activated in an attempt to save who and what remains.

The video game currently has more than 20 million active players, and The Division 2 debuted in March. There has long been interest in turning it into a movie. In fact, the project has been in the works for years, with Chastain signing on in 2016, as THR noted.

Chastain and Gyllenhaal will double as producers. Both have been recognized for their work over the years -- she is a two-time Oscar nominee and he has been nominated once. Some of her recent films include "Dark Phoenix" and "Molly's Game," and his include "Velvet Buzzsaw" and "The Sisters Brothers."

"The Division" comes from 87North Productions, Nine Stories, Freckle Films, and Ubisoft Film and Television.
