Tyrese Gibson Threatens to Leave 'Fast and Furious' Over Dwayne Johnson Feud
Well, that escalated quickly.
Tyrese Gibson is continuing to throw fuel into the feud with "Fast and Furious" co-star Dwayne Johnson. Now, he's threatening to leave the franchise if Johnson returns to "Fast and Furious 9."
The feud started because of Gibson's dissatisfaction with the delay of "Fast 9," due to the spinoff around The Rock and Jason Statham. The latter will open in April 2019, taking the slot once planned for "Fast 9."
Gibson has publicly blamed Johnson for breaking up the blockbuster franchise's family, and basically putting him out of a job for another year.
In two posts on Instagram today, Gibson continued to criticize his co-star and even floated the idea of quitting the franchise.
"I'm sorry to announce that if Dewayne [sic] is in Fast9 there will no more Roman Peirce [sic] – You mess with family and my daughters survival I mess with yours," he wrote.
In an earlier post, Gibson said he was "never mad" at Johnson, but instead "'pitched' an idea privately and said yes to it without thinking of what I'm dealing with personally."
Gibson is currently in the midst of a heated battle with his ex-wife over custody of their daughter.
Meanwhile, "Fast and Furious" producer and star Vin Diesel has tried to play peacemaker, saying the franchise is in "need of maintenance" before it revs its engines again.
