'Time After Time' Canceled by ABC After Five Episodes
"Time After the Time," the time-traveling drama that followed H.G. Wells and Jack the Ripper through the decades, has been canceled by ABC after airing just five episodes.
The show has been averaging a low 2.2 million viewers a week and a 0.5 rating in the all-important 18-49 age demographic. It received tepid reviews when it premiered.
"Time After Time" was developed by Kevin Williamson, based on the novel of the same name. Freddie Stroma starred H.G. Wells, who follows his former best friend, John Stevenson aka Jack the Ripper (Josh Bowman), after the latter steals the former's time machine and travels to 2017. Wells attempts to stop the Ripper from continuing his killing spree in the modern day.
The drama will be replaced in its timeslot by the game show "Match Game."
