There's no place like home -- unless, of course, you want the ultimate movie-viewing experience. In that case, you can't beat a cinema.

With "The Wizard of Oz" turning 80 this year, the classic film is headed back to theaters. The Judy Garland starrer is set to be re-released in select theaters across the United States at the end of the month. Fans will be able to catch showings on Sunday, Jan. 27; Tuesday, Jan. 29; and Wednesday, Jan. 30.

The anniversary celebrations come thanks to Fathom Events, Turner Classic Movies, and Warner Bros. They feature insight from TCM's Ben Mankiewicz, who will talk about "The Wizard of Oz" and share details in the making of the film. It sounds like a treat for both casual and die-hard moviegoers alike.

The movie is based on L. Frank Baum's children's book of the same name, and it opened in August 1939 to both critical and commercial success. The film earned six Academy Award nominations, including one for Best Picture. While the big award ultimately went to "Gone With the Wind," "The Wizard of Oz" won in the Best Music, Original Score and Best Music, Original Song categories.
