'The Walking Dead' Announces 'Pokemon-Go' Type Interactive Game
Want to slay walkers at the gym or your local park? AMC announced yesterday that it's launching an augmented reality location-based game called "The Walking Dead: Our World" that will let you do just that.
The game will be something like "Pokemon Go," in which players catch various Pokemon characters that pop up on your phone, depending on your location.
In the promo video for the upcoming app, we see people going about their everyday lives when they pick up their phone and are suddenly immersed in the post-apocalyptic world of "The Walking Dead," with walkers everywhere.
Although showing a hospital employee in scrubs imagining throwing a grenade into a room full of walkers (after walking past a shuffling old man in real life) might not be the best scenario for playing the game.
It looks like you'll be able to pick up available weapons, including a katana sword like the one Michonne uses and an MP5K rifle. And Rick Grimes, Daryl Dixon and Michonne might show up to help you fight.
The game, created with Finnish games developer Next Game, will first launch on iPhone and iPad and then later on Android devices. No release date has yet been announced
Next Game previously created "The Walking Dead: No Man's Land," a mobile game where players collect characters to take on locations. It's been downloaded more than 16 million times.
Season 8 of "The Walking Dead" premieres on October 22.
