The Rock's 'Black Adam' Movie Lands 'Shallows' Director Jaume Collet-Serra
The Rock's "Shazam!" spinoff "Black Adam" has found its director: Jaume Collet-Serra, who just wrapped shooting Dwayne Johnson in Disney’s "Jungle Cruise."
Black Adam is Shazam's archnemesis. He was a semi-immortal Egyptian prince who became corrupted by the magical powers given to him by a wizard. (Which is in no way like The Rock's character the Scorpion King. Let's at least hope the CGI is better than in "The Mummy Returns.")
Collet-Serra's films include "The Shallows," "House of Wax" and "Orphan," as well as the Liam Neeson action flicks "The Commuter," "Run All Night," "Non-Stop" and "Unknown."
Producer Hiram Garcia confirmed the news on Twitter, saying,"Just wait till you see what we’ve been developing! Thrilled to have #JaumeColletSerra back."
"Jungle Cruise," which costars Emily Blunt, is out July 24, 2020.
There's no release date yet for "Black Adam."
