The Rock Dethrones Iron Man as World's Highest-Paid Actor 2016
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has promised to treat us all to Waffle House, now that he's the highest-paid actor in the world. The Rock edged out reigning champion Robert Downey Jr. to top Forbes's annual list. It was a huuuuuuge year for The Rock, who not only took him his biggest payday yet ($64.5 million), it was more than double his 2015 earnings. That's what you call movin' up.
Here's his reaction:
Want to say two things about this.
I started w/ $7 bucks. If I can overcome, so can you.
Waffle House on me!!???????????? https://t.co/r3UeQYaLmT

Waffles for everyone! Thanks, man! RDJ moved down to No. 9 this year, but his take isn't too shabby. (Last year he led the list with a whopping $80 million. Accountants, assemble.)
Here are the top 10 (including a tie) for 2016:
1. Dwayne Johnson = $64,500,00
2. Jackie Chan = $61,000,000
3. Matt Damon = $55,000,000
4. Tom Cruise = $53,000,000
5. Johnny Depp = $48,000,000
6. Ben Affleck = $43,000,000
7. Vin Diesel = $35,000,000
8. Shah Rukh Khan = $33,000,000
9. Robert Downey Jr = $33,000,000
10. Akshay Kumar = $31,500,000
10. Brad Pitt = $31,500,000
Johnny Depp probably won't be this high next year. Forbes said he got eight figures apiece upfront for the new "Pirates of the Caribbean" movie and the bomb that was "Alice Through the Looking Glass," but he's not likely to repeat that in 2017.
Even though we're talking about multi-millionaires across the board, the gender gap is real -- with Jennifer Lawrence topping the highest-paid actresses list with $46 million, which is less than Depp made to make No. 5 for the guys. The women's top 10 ranges from $10 million-$46 million, and only two women -- Lawrence and Melissa McCarthy -- made more than $31 million, which is the No. 10 position for the men.
