'The Leftovers' Season 2 Trailer Wants You to Believe in Miracles
Where do you go if you're looking for miracles? A town named Miracle, of course.
"The Leftovers," and at first, it seems that things are looking up for Kevin Garvey (Justin Theroux), Nora Durst (Carrie Coon), and their family. They decide to leave Mapleton for Miracle, Texas — which experienced zero Sudden Departures.
"What are you looking for?" asks new neighbor John Murphy (Kevin Carroll).
"A fresh start," Kevin answers.
Watch the trailer.
But the fresh start begins to sour when the daughter of John and wife Erika (Regina King) goes missing. Was there foul play? Did she run away? Or could this be another departure?
Judging from the trailer, season 2 seems to have a different tone than the often-depressing first season. There is still conflict and tension, but also moments of light and even some smiles!
As we learned from TCA last week, the Guilty Remnant won't be as big of a part of the storyline, though Ann Dowd's supposedly-dead leader, Patti, is seen in the trailer. Is she a ghost? Not really dead? Also, there are glimpses of Amy Brenneman as Kevin's ex, Laurie; Liv Tyler as acolyte Megan; and Chris Zylka as Kevin's son, Tommy, who appears to join the Guilty Remnant.
"The Leftovers" season 2 premieres Sunday, Oct. 4 on HBO.
