This "Escape Room" is no fun and definitely not a game.

Sony released the trailer for the horror thriller, which puts a deadly twist on the popular immersive experience that teams up friends to solve puzzles to escape the room.

In this movie, though, six strangers are locked into a terrifying room, where some unknown force plays mind games with them. As they attempt to find clues on how to escape, they discover that they share a connection — possibly the reason why they were all trapped together in the first place.

The film stars  Logan Miller, Deborah Ann Woll, Jay Ellis, Taylor Russell, Tyler Labine, Nik Dodani, and Yorick van Wageningen. The trailer feels like a mixture of "Saw" and "Cabin in the Woods," with a bit of the "Insidious" movies thrown in (not surprising since the director also made "Insidious: The Last Key).

"The Escape Room" opens in theaters January 4.
