The CW Welcomes 'Supergirl' in New Season 2 Poster
"Supergirl" is flying over to sister network The CW for its sophomore season, and the show's new home is excitedly welcoming the series and its titular heroine to the fold in a new poster for season two.
The image isn't exactly revolutionary, featuring returning star Melissa Benoist in the same costume she sported the last time we saw her onscreen, though it's nice to see The CW so excited over the newest addition to its ever-expanding DC Comics-verse. And the actress certainly looks striking on the one-sheet, serving a steely gaze and clenched fists that show she's ready and determined to take on any new threat that comes her way. (The huge, swirling cape also amps up the drama, too.)
While Supergirl herself looks like she hasn't changed much, the show seems itself is in a bit of a transition period. In addition to the aforementioned network swap, the series is also adding a whole bunch of new faces to the lineup in its sophomore outing, the most famous among them none other than Superman himself, who's being played by Tyler Hoechlin. Details about the Man of Steel's appearance are being kept under wraps for now, but he's set to star in at least the first two episodes of season two, with the potential for more guest stints down the road.
Also joining the fold are Lynda Carter (the onetime Wonder Woman, who's playing the president of the United States), Floriana Lima (Maggie Sawyer), Katie McGrath (Lena Luthor), Ian Gomez (Snapper Carr), Sharon Leal (Miss Martian), and Chris Wood (Mon-El).
Season two of "Supergirl" makes its CW debut on October 10.
