Stunt Person Killed on Set of 'Deadpool 2'
A stunt person was killed on the Vancouver, British Columbia set of "Deadpool 2" on Monday while filming a scene on a motorcycle, local authorities confirmed.
Though authorities have not yet released official details about the accident, TMZ was the first to report the incident, which the site says occurred on Monday morning while shooting near Jack Poole Plaza in Vancouver. According to TMZ, the stuntwoman -- whose identity has not yet been released -- was performing a trick on a motorcycle when she "went airborne" and "Her bike crashed through the glass of a ground-floor studio."
"Witnesses say she never applied the brakes," TMZ reports.
Local authorities later confirmed the incident in a statement released online, saying, "Vancouver Police can confirm that a female stunt driver has died on the set of 'Deadpool' during a stunt on a motorcycle. VPD officers are at the scene, along with officers from WorkSafeBC."
Police are continuing to investigate the accident, and are reportedly interviewing cast members, crew, and bystanders.

According to reports from local news outlet CTV, witnesses said that "the stunt woman appeared to lose control of the motorcycle, which drove off set and crashed through the window of Shaw Tower across the street." One eyewitness, who was inside Shaw Tower, told CTV that "the stunt driver did a couple takes or practice runs driving down a set of stairs and stopping before the street, but on the final attempt she zoomed onto the road and through a glass window pane, narrowly missing some pedestrians."

The driver was loaded into an Advanced Life Support ambulance, CTV reports, where she remained for about 45 minutes before the vehicle drove away without its lights flashing. "Despite the efforts of first responders, she could not be saved," the station said.
On Monday afternoon, studio 20th Century Fox released a statement about the accident:
"We are deeply saddened by the accident that occurred on the set of 'Deadpool 2' this morning. Our hearts and prayers are with the family, friends and colleagues of our crew member during this difficult time."
This is the second high-profile on-set accident involving stunts this week, with Tom Cruise reportedly injured while filming a scene for "Mission: Impossible 6."
