'Stranger Things' Star David Harbour Is the New Hellboy
Hellboy is coming back -- but without star Ron Perlman and director Guillermo Del Toro.
The creator of the big red guy, Mike Mignola, shared the news yesterday that "Stranger Things" star David Harbour will be playing the demonic, cigar-chomping hero. Neil Marshall, who gave us the ultra-gory "The Descent" and "Dog Soldiers" will be directing. And one more tidbit: The movie will be rated R, unlike the first two films, which were both rated PG-13.
Harbour was previously rumored to take on a different comic-book role, that of Cable in "Deadpool 2," but that went to Josh Brolin.
According to THR, the film has a working title of "Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen." Neither Del Toro or Ron Perlman will be involved in the project.
What's Del Toro doing instead? He's currently working on "Pacific Rim: Uprising," which opens February 23, 2018. Perlman recently headlined the Amazon series "Hand of God."
