Mama Steve is going to be such an expert at his new job by the time you see him in "Stranger Things" Season 3.

The first two seasons of Netflix's sci-fi series premiered in July 2016 then October 2017. But 2018 is getting the shaft completely, with Season 3 arriving in summer 2019.

The recent Starcourt Mall teaser hinted to as much, ending with "Coming Next Summer!"

Netflix programming exec Cindy Holland confirmed the summer 2019 premiere during the TCAs on Sunday, explaining that the showrunners just need the extra time:

"It’s a handcrafted show. The Duffer Brothers and Shawn Levy, they understand the stakes are high. They want to deliver something bigger and better than last year. I think it’s going to be a fantastic season. It will be worth the wait."

After the panel, EW added, Holland said Season 3 will have more special effects work than previous seasons, which certainly adds to the delay factor:

"It’s a really exciting season, just takes a little more time."

The Shadow Monster needs time to get into character.

Can't say we'd complain about the show being bigger or better than Season 2. There were so many things about Season 2 that we loved, but the story had some momentum issues, character frustrations, and that episode that apparently no one else liked.

"Stranger Things" Season 3 is expected to have eight episodes, set in 1985. The cast is now filming in the Atlanta area, and recent set photos showed off another new look for Eleven. It's possible we'll get to see the new season around the same time, or just after, "Game of Thrones" finally drops its final season next year.
