'So You Think You Can Dance' Winner Sentenced to Year in Jail for Domestic Violence
Joshua Allen, the winner of Season 4 of "So You Think You Can Dance," has been sentenced to a year in jail, for assaulting his ex-girlfriend People reports.
Allen, 28, was also sentenced to five years of formal probation and 52 weeks of domestic violence counseling, according to Los Angeles Daily News. He was ordered to stay away from the victim, his ex-girlfriend, for a decade. He was facing up to 10 years in jail, according to People.
This all stems from an incident in June 2016, when Allen attacked his ex-girlfriend and chased her to a nearby coffee shop, then assaulted bystanders who tried to help her. Deadline reports Allen vandalized the coffee shop until he was "subdued by other good Samaritans."
Per Deadline, he was previously convicted in January 13, 2016 of "willfully injuring a girlfriend," then attempted to strangle her on April 13 of the same year.
Allen was going to be a mentor on last season of the Fox reality dancing show, but withdrew after the charges were filed.
