'Sharknado 4' Gets 'Star Wars'-Inspired Title, Premiere Date
The fourth installment in the "Sharknado" franchise is getting ready to touch down, and now has a new, "Star Wars"-inspired title, and an official premiere date.
Now dubbed "Sharknado: The 4th Awakens" (get it?), the Syfy original movie will hit the cable network on July 31. Original stars Ian Ziering and Tara Reid will reprise their roles, and the resolution to the cliffhanger at the end of "Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No!" will be revealed, via the results of the social media fan vote using either the #AprilLives or #AprilDies hashtag.
Here's the official logline for the TV movie, per Syfy:
Sharknado 4 will take place five years after the East Coast was ravaged in Sharknado 3. Fin, his family and the cosmos have been blissfully sharknado-free in the intervening years, but now sharks – and 'nados! – are being whipped up in places (and ways) that are completely unexpected...
Sounds about right for the fourth installment in a schlocky (yet oddly satisfying) series starring a bunch of D-list actors. Speaking of which, new faces this time around include Gary Busey (playing April's dad -- so apparently Reid's character survives?), Cheryl Tiegs (playing Fin's mom), Tommy Davidson, Imani Hakim, Cody Linley, and Masiela Lusha. Expect many more low-level celeb cameos to be announced.
"Sharknado: The 4th Awakens" debuts on Syfy on Sunday, July 31 at 8 p.m.
