'Scandal,' 'Grey's Anatomy,' 'How to Get Away With Murder' Returns Delayed
TGIT will have to wait another week.
ABC announced it is delaying the premiere of "Scandal" season 6 and the return of "Grey's Anatomy" and "How to Get Away With Murder" one week due to a pre-inauguration special. All three Shonda Rhimes-produced shows — dubbed "TGIT" (Thank Goodness It's Thursday) — were scheduled to return Thursday, Jan. 19. Now, they'll come back Jan. 26.
Instead, ABC will air "America's First Family: The Trumps Go to Washington" at 10 p.m. on Jan. 19. Repeats of "Grey's Anatomy" and "Scandal" will take the 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. slots.
This means "Scandal" fans will have to wait a little longer for the long-awaited premiere of season 6. The drama took off the fall season to accommodate star Kerry Washington's pregnancy. So, that's one more week to find out whether Mellie and Jake won the presidential election.
