Saucy Jack Is Back in New 'Pirates of the Caribbean 5' Trailer
Carina Smyth: "I'm not looking for trouble."
Jack Sparrow: "What a horrible way to live."
"Ellen" just debuted Disney's new trailer for "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales," and it's looking for all the right kind of trouble. The fifth movie in the franchise brings back Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow, Geoffrey Rush as Captain Barbossa, and Orlando Bloom as Will Turner. It also adds a new villain in Javier Bardem's Captain Armando Salazar, and the new trailer does a good job of setting up the Salazar vs. Sparrow dynamic, adding backstory to show how young Jack screwed over the captain, setting up still another rivalry for our (anti)hero.
The trailer also shows more of young newbies Kaya Scodelario as Carina Smyth and Brenton Thwaites as Henry, and both characters play off Jack with the kind of saucy, naughty humor fans fell in love with back in 2003. Plus, the monkey is back. And there's a ghost shark. What else do you want?
Here's the trailer:And here's the official Disney synopsis:
"Thrust into an all-new adventure, a down-on-his-luck Captain Jack Sparrow finds the winds of ill-fortune blowing even more strongly when deadly ghost pirates led by his old nemesis, the terrifying Captain Salazar (Bardem), escape from the Devil's Triangle, determined to kill every pirate at sea...including him. Captain Jack's only hope of survival lies in seeking out the legendary Trident of Poseidon, a powerful artifact that bestows upon its possessor total control over the seas."
