What happens when a story may turn out to be too good to be true?

In the upcoming movie "Truth," Robert Redford plays CBS anchorman Dan Rather in the behind-the-scenes look at the unraveling of the "60 Minutes" expose on President George W. Bush's National Guard service during the Vietnam War.

As questions arose about the authenticity of the documents on which the investigative team relied, the network and Rather found themselves on the other side of the hard questions in an affair called "Rathergate."

The film, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival, also stars Cate Blanchett, Topher Grace, Elizabeth Moss and Dennis Quaid. It opens in limited release on Oct. 2.
