Elle Woods for president? If Donald Trump can run, the door is open for all kinds of characters, including the "Legally Blonde" lawyer, who does have some successful D.C. experience from "Red, White, & Blonde."

Reese Witherspoon was recently a guest on "Fashionably Late with Rachel Zoe," and a fan asked for her take on making "Legally Blonde 3." Reese starred in the first two movies, in 2001 and 2003, and then left the franchise, but she sounded enthusiastic about the idea of returning:

A lot of writers over the years have come up with different ideas for it. I actually think it's kind of great right now because we're talking about women in politics and how important that is to get more women. And I think it'd be kind of a cool thing to have her be a Supreme Court justice or somebody who runs for office. President?"

The audience cheered, and she added, "I think we're ready to see Elle and see what she's up to lately. That said, I don't know! Call MGM, I have no idea."

So there's no actual sequel in the works, but she's right -- 2016 would be a good time to revisit Elle Woods and see whether she'd be running for president, helping someone behind-the-scenes, or doing ... whatever the heck she would be doing more than a decade after we last saw Reese in the role. Elle would be a young president, but since Reese is 39, that's old enough for the job.

Watch the discussion in the video below. What do you think? Should they pick up Elle's story for a new movie or leave it alone?
