"Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" will officially begin its story at the Cannes Film Festival.

The festival announced Thursday it will premiere Quentin Tarantino's highly-anticipated ninth feature film. It's been 25 years since his iconic "Pulp Fiction" won the Palme d'Or at Cannes.

The movie will bring a ton of star power to the festival — it stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie, and Al Pacino.

The 72nd Cannes Film Festival unveiled its lineup a few weeks ago, with "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" notably absent.

Artistic director Thierry Fremaux said then that the film was not ready yet, due to the lengthy 35mm post-production process. But Fremaux fully expected to add it to the lineup at a later date.

Much like "Pulp Fiction," "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" weaves together a tapestry of stories. It's set in Los Angeles during the summer of 1969, when Charles Manson and his devotees murdered actress Sharon Tate (Robbie) and others.

DiCaprio plays the washed-up star of a Western TV series who's trying to carve out a new niche for himself in the industry, while Pitt plays his friend and stunt double. And they have famous next-door neighbors: Sharon and director Roman Polanski.

Fremaux also announced several more films joining the Cannes lineup. They include "Mektoub, My Love: Intermezzo," the second part of a four project from Abdellatif Kechiche (a Palme d'Or winner for "Blue Is the Warmest Colour).

The 2019 Cannes Film Festival runs from May 14-25. "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" opens in theaters July 26.
