For John Gatins, writing the screenplay for "Power Rangers" posed a mighty challenge.
"A screenplay needs to be around 120 pages," Gatins says. "So how do you tell five origin stories, and all the mythology, and a bad-guy plot, and save the world, and do all these things?"
They key, he says, was listening as well as writing. He relied on the insights of many creative people behind the scenes, including those at Saban Brands, the company behind the Power Rangers.
"Part of the process for a screenwriter on this movie was hearing all those really smart voices and trying to ... cherry pick the things and try to stitch them together," he says.
