Peter Parker Is in Over His Head in New 'Spider-Man: Homecoming' Trailer
Peter Parker (Tom Holland) is still figuring out this whole superhero thing in the new trailer for "Spider-Man: Homecoming," as we see him struggling to save a ferry that's been split in half and facing off with Vulture sidekick Shocker (Bokeem Woodbine).
Acting as the young hero's mentor is Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr), who nixes Peter's dreams of becoming an Avenger. "Can't you just be your friendly, neighborhood Spider-Man?" Tony asks.
When Peter is concerned about local bad guy Vulture (Michael Keaton) and his "crazy dangerous weapons," Tony advises him, "Forget the flying monster guy."
Peter can't stay away, however. Good thing Tony's there (as Iron Man) to help Spidey in what looks like a huge action sequence where he tries to save a ferry after Vulture's taken a buzz-saw to it.
After that, Tony tells him he doesn't know what he's doing and demands he hand over his suit! "But I'm nothing without this suit," protests Peter. "If you're nothing without the suit, then you shouldn't have it," says Tony sternly.
As for that suit, by the way, it's self-adjusting, kinda like Marty McFly's futuristic sneakers. And we find out that one size fits all after Peter accidentally reveals his identity to nerdy pal Ned (Jacob Batalon), who immediately asks to try on the Spidey outfit.
We also see more of Vulture in action and threatening, "Don't mess with me, because I will kill you, and everybody you love." Not Aunt May (Marisa Tomei)! Noooo!
There's also a showdown at the Washington Monument, a plunging elevator and a Spidey-Vulture air battle that involves a jet plane, where it looks like Peter has rigged up his own makeshift Spidey suit."Spider-Man: Homecoming" opens July 7.
