Paul Wesley is trading vampires for a big, bad wolf and a bunch of pigs. He'll play a human version of one of the pigs.

In his first role after Stefan Salvatore on "The Vampire Diaries," Wesley plays Eddie in "Tell Me a Story," a new psychological thriller web series from TVD co-creator Kevin Williamson. The show kind of sounds like a new version of "Once Upon a Time," but that may be over-simplifying it.

"Tell Me a Story" premieres October 31 -- yep, Halloween itself -- on the streaming service CBS All Access.

The series gives a new spin to classic fairy tales, setting them in modern times. Season 1 is mixing together "The Three Little Pigs," "Little Red Riding Hood," and "Hansel and Gretel."

Paul Wesley's story obviously connects to The Three Little Pigs storyline. Entertainment Weekly shared a photo of his bartender character, Eddie, who is described as a "low-level drug dealer, and part-time thief who struggles with his own drug and alcohol problems." Er, at least he's not a vampire?

The series also stars Kim Cattrall, Danielle Campbell, James Wolk, and Dania Ramirez (who played Cinderella in the final season of "Once Upon a Time.")

Showrunner Kevin Williamson told EW the show will put its own spin on "Three Little Pigs," with James Wolk as the wolf:

“If you look at the three little pigs, what’s the theme of that? Hard work pays off. The pig who built his house with brick and worked really, really hard is the one who survived. The littlest pig is the lazy one, then you have the middle pig who’s the man of half-measure who works really hard … sort of. He’s the guy who stops halfway through. And then you have the third pig who works hard for everything that he has."
