'Rogue One,' 'Jungle Book' Make Oscars Shortlist for Best Visual Effects
Some of this year's biggest movies are one step closer to Oscar.
The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Science announced the shortlist for the Best Visual Effects category, and it's full of major blockbusters like "The Jungle Book," "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them," "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," and the soon-to-be-huge "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story." And in an unusual move, the animated feature "Kubo and the Two Strings" made the list.
Last year, robot drama "Ex Machina" took the prize.
Later this month, a committee will further narrow down the list to 10 contenders. Oscar nominations are announced on Jan. 24.
